Trouble with Change

So I was diagnosed with atypical Anorexia as I started out obese and am now edging towards underweight but not there yet. I’ve managed to stop losing weight and remain stable for about 3 months now. I even gained a little(not happy) but my clothing sizes haven’t changed so there’s that. For me remaining the same clothing size is important.

I can’t deal with my clothing sizes changing I’ll go right back to full blown relapse. My therapist wants me to gain a bit but I don’t technically need to for my height. I don’t see why I can’t just maintain where I’m at. That’s all I’m willing to do.

Great you've held your weight. Suggest you talk this out with your therapist - talk through the reason why she'd like you to gain a bit - its easy to get "duped" by the ED thoughts into feeling you're OK - your weight is just right - when in fact you are under weight and need to gain - it feels safer to stay just under the target weight than to be at or just above. Do talk to your therapist about your thoughts and fears - its important you get to the issues underlying your feelings around weight and body image.

Humm its difficult place to be.. i guess the professional wants a bit of a weight gain.. partly because u are nearing on underweight., and if things get tougher and it has a negative effect on ur weight that will take u into dangerous ground.. i know the feeling of being fixeated on numbers and sizes of clothes defining u.. but please bear in mind u are a person.. a human- and if i lost my sight i would not know ur shape or what u look like.. no judgments.. but i would hear ur voice and read ur personallity the real person u are.. thats all that really matters not shape wrinkles spots blemishes these are superficial - dont let the ed control ruin ur life

I do want to applaud u for haulting the of dipping weight!! That takes courage and strength.. time to focus on what u enjoy! Xx

I hope this helps a bit! 💐💐
