Peak flow
Hi, I recently became diagnosed with asthma. I'm on a preventer treatment and have ventolin/salamol as a reliever when necessary. Stress seems to be my main trigger. I did a peak flow reading at the doctor's recently, and my reading was 500. Is this normal for an asthmatic, as I'm not familiar with

Worried about asthma/chest infection
Hi everyone, Usually my asthma is well controlled, that is until I developed a chest infection last week. I went to the doctor who prescribed me amoxicillin for 7 days and a 5 day course of oral steroids. These seemed to get it into better control again until I developed a bad throat and ear ache 3/

Hi all, i was diagnosed with astma at a younge age but i think at about age 11 i never went back to the doctors for a repeat perscription for inhailers or seen them in reguards to it since. I recently picked up a EU standered range peak flow meter and range between 350 and 450 the last few days

Have I really got asthma?
Have had some strange experiences over the last 7 to 8 weeks but, more severely, over the past couple of weeks only which have been preliminary diagnosed as asthma (first time I've ever been ill in 45 years with something that couldn't be easily cured by OTC remedies bought at the Pharmacy). My first

First Time
For the first time, I had a panicky moment where two puffs of Ventolin didn't help. Properly diagnosed this year as to having asthma, the brown preventer inhaler has done such a good job. that mostly I've been forgetting the hard times both before and shortly after, the meds sorted out. The other

Peak flow better in mornings
Hi My PF tend to be higher in the mornings than evenings, although I've read that in asthma you get a morning dip. Is this something that can happen with asthma or (clutching at straws here) could it indicate that it is not asthma?

Peak Flows
I have been taking my peak flows for over a year now morning and night when I first started my best peak flow was 550 and was quite often near it. Now my peak flow is around 400-450. Do I now move my peak flow to a new best?

Is this asthma?
I seem tot be having a rough time and starting to wonder if its my asthma or something else going on. I was dianagnosed with asthma in December 2008 after what appeared to be an asthma attack after months of having similiar eposodes but having a itchy rash. In May 2009 I was diagnosed with VCD. I seem

Large Airway Wheeze
I'm trying to find a way to describe what I mean by this! On the whole my asthma is mild and well controlled, but at times when I've kept a Peak Flow Diary, I never really see a lot of change in my scores unless I've got a URT infection. However, sometimes when I feel wheezy, the wheeze seems to be

Does FVC vary?
I know there was a discussion not long ago about lung fuction tests, and somebody helpfully gave this link: http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40002357/ However, what I am still a little confused about is which numbers are variable and which are not? I know peak flow goes up and down, but should the

Peak flow/ventolin question
Hi, I'm a bit confused & looking for somebody clever to help me out! If I take Ventolin then my peak flow goes significantly higher than it gets when I'm feeling well. Would it do this to normal lungs, or does this mean it's always lower than it should be?
