Combining Hydroxycarbomide with venesections?
My question is; might a
venesection
be of more therapeutic value at this stage rather than an increase in the Hydroxycarbomide? It has been a year since the last one, before commencing medication. I look forward to your thoughts.

just diagnosed
This week I had my first
venesection
and have started on hydroxyurea. I am so relieved! Strange , I know, to be relieved at a diagnosis but I feel vindicated as I have been touting my bag of symptoms around, mostly bone pain, headaches and dizziness since I turned 60.

saline with venesection
hi Just wondering if anyone else has had experiences of having saline drip when they have their venesections. My haematologist has suggested it as she wants to take a full unit this time to stabilise my red blood count. I usually only have half a unit as it takes me a four weeks to recover after

Jak2 now "Undetectable"
Over the last 12-18 months, I have had to have a
venesection
every 3-4 months. They have been suggesting that maybe another increase in my Peg was needed.

Testing again in a couple of weeks and
venesection
will be calling if my Hct doesn't drop before then. I've avoided venesections since May 2019 and it would be a shame to break the streak! So, lots of interesting things to look forward to in the next few weeks - never a dull moment!

Since my last
venesection
these have become so much worse, constant headaches, leg cramps, some chest tightening, complete inability to concentrate/ think clearly. My local haematologist was adamant these were menopause related but Guys reassured me they could be in part due to iron deficiency.

He will be monitored every 6 months for his liver and will start
venesection
for the HC shortly. A year ago today our journey began but that journey has not included alcohol; he is 1 year sober today.

Pegasys --> Besremi and HCT
I was on 135ug every 9 days without need of supporting
venesection
(at least for the last 8 months or so). Since switching medication 9 months ago, I've gradually increased Besremi dosage to 400ug biweekly but have trouble with keeping HCT below 0.45 (3 venesections since the switch).

Update, sort of good and not so good news
Today they are still at 0.47, so I am having to go for a
venesection
, 1st in nearly 3 years. The good news is my allele burden results are back at 1.62% down from last time... So sort of good and not so good news..

Due to start interferon
I was on HU for afew months but decided to come off it and just do aspirin and
venesection
. That worked for last 2 years but platelets over 1000 and WBC starting to creep up. My haematologist wants me to start interferon next month after next visit.

Treatment options
Generally up 0.47 is ok anything above I have a
venesection
. hen I was first diagnosed my haematocrit was 0.72. The treatment us working but hydroxycarbamide is not a nice drug. There is an option to go onto interferon or possibly the Mithridate trial, should I change?

First venesection done!
Hubby had his first
venesection
treatment today. He was diagnosed with hereditary haemochromotosis in October and at point of diagnosis his ferritin levels were over 1500 - anything over 300 is high.

Insomnia Help
I’ve been on
venesection
only & have normal counts, but still struggling with sleep. I tried taking a herbal tea which was working really well & saw that you shouldn’t mix passionflower and aspirin together. I’ve read on here that melatonin increases platelets, so obviously don’t want that.

Is there a way of ‘blood removal’ if you have Peripheral Atrial Fibrillation? Or medication to assist removal of too much iron
