Our son is 6 and has received numerous diagnosis over the years ranging from ODD, SPD, Severe ADHD and mild Autism. He also struggles with Anxiety. We knew there was something unique about him around his first birthday and he has been in therapy since he was 2, medicated starting at 3. We had him on

New Member with ADHD
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed 3yrs ago at age 49. My Drs kept putting me on anti anxiety or anti depression medicines for years without any success. Finally sent me to a therapist who diagnosed me with ADHD. I was prescribed Adderall XR and it made such a difference. My husband was especially happy.

Adderall causing anger or sadness?
Hi, our 5 year old son was just diagnosed with ADHD and we are in the process of finding a medication for him that works. Has anyone noticed if Concerta/Adderall brought on more mood swings, anger or low self-esteem? We feel like there was a very noticeable change once we started med[i]s but want to

Hi I'm new here. How can I help my son?
Hi I'm a single parent of a 15 year old son with ADHD combined type. He is on meds Focalin xr. Some of his behaviors I cannot comprehend or understand his motives or what he gets out of it. We live with my parents who have their own beliefs about how i should discipline my son. At home he spills

Are stimulants suppose to be temporary or lifelong?
When I was on Concerta XR I ended up at the highest dosage and it did nothing for me every step of the way. I then got on Adderall 10mg IR and it was amazing for me! I ended up building a tolerance I guess because it went from lasting 6 hours to lasting 3 hours. My psychiatrist changed my medication

Adderall and irritability
Hi folks, I've been appreciating reading peoples' posts here, esp those of women around my age (51). I was diagnosed (due to extreme self advocacy and persistence) at age 36. I have the "inattentive/usually overlooked in girls/ bright but unproductive" story. When I was diagnosed, it was a huge validation

How do you cope with when your meds wear off?
I'm very happy with my Adderall XR treatment but am frustrated with my inability to socialize or get ready for bed efficiently after it wears off 12 hours later.

Son keeps zoning out and giggle
Hi, I'm new here and my son (7 y/o) was diagnosed with ADHD. The biggest problem was that he was daydreaming, very hyper, lack of concentration. He was constantly playing with his hands like they were the toys. And 2 months ago he started zoning out and giggle. Like the emotions on his face changes ,

Terrible Insomnia w/ Adderall XR
Anyone else experience terrible insomnia from Adderall XR? How did you get over it? I'm averaging 4 hours of sleep, unless I take an Ambian, which is not sustainable. I've started taking the 20mg pill at 4am, as opposed to 8am, which after several days has yet to help me get to sleep at a reasonable

First time Adderall XR use- is this normal?
Hi all! After years of putting it off because of fear of doctors/medication I have finally been diagnosed with ADHD inattentive. I took my first dose of Adderall XR (20mg) yesterday for the first time and after about an hour/2 my brain finally felt like it was resting (I guess “at peace” is how I would

Looking for some tech help to improve my life.
I want to improve my quality of life and be more productive. I am successful at work and have done a lot to improve there. I have a bullet journal that I use but not as much as I use to. I attend Church and my faith is important to me. I'm an extrovert but don't have many friends. I have people I talk

Side effects from switching between stimulants?
Hello! I spent the last month on Vyvanse and did not love it. I switched back to Adderall XR for a three days and now am back on the generic XR, which is what worked the best for me in the past (there was an insurance change that had me on the brand name XR, which caused a bunch of unpleasant side effects

looking for suggestions for a new technical career
Hi all, I'm new here. I have a four-year Engineering degree. I never landed a job in my field, in large part due to my ADHD. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 45 because I'm not fidgety. I'm 54 now. I take Adderall XR (20 mg) on work days, which is tremendously helpful for about eight hours; I try to

Extended Release Medication Problems
I find I crash hard from Adderall XR but not the IR. Anyone else have those issues? I've heard some people have problems with extended release medications but can't find any research on it to present to my doctor.

Adderall XR experience.
We are on day 3 of 10mg adderall XR with my 6 year old son. It’s been heartbreaking so far. He’s so irritable and emotional. The sitter says he hasn’t even laughed or smiled today. We are trying to give it a good week, but gosh… it’s hard to know what to do!

Decreased appetite & picky eater
Hi - So my 6 year old son has been on Adderall XR and as his dose has increased we are now seeing a large decrease in his appetite. He is a thin kiddo as it is, so losing weight isn't something he has much leeway on. He's just over 4ft tall and 46 lbs. I've been giving him incentives for eating which
