Latest visit to the Rhemy
I'm on 8mg steroids, 15mg methotrexate (to get me off the steroids) and Alendronic Acid for OP. My neck and wrists have been in getting worse as I reduce. I wake up with wrists throbbing and am finding it hard to dress myself again. I thought by reducing to 8mg the specialist would be happy but also

Sense-check, Hashi Swings, and inability to lose weight
I just wanted to sense check my plan for optimising my health, considering my latest blood tests have arrived. So scroll down to blood tests, as first, I am providing all sorts of contexts for reference. In short, I have Hashimotos and have been testing at least twice per year with Medichecks. Bio

Co Enzyme Q10 & Alpha Lipoic Acid : good anti oxidants or not helpful bad ideas? Do they extend Healthspan or reduce inflammation?
I take both. I just ordered more regrettably as I’m now reconsidering the evidence behind both. I know many others on HU take them as well. What is the science to explain why? My reason for taking ALA is a lame one. Dr. David Sinclair does. But as I look in to this more I think that maybe neither

Newlyish Diagnosed Grateful to find this website
Hi Everyone, I went to my GP back in November thinking I had either an ear or sinus infection, thankfully she was on the ball and after taking something like 10 vials of blood she sent me home with 60mg perisdione to start immediately with a suggested diagnosis of GCA. I think at that point I wasn't

Feeling really down
I have recently started treatment for recurring cancer.Rubrac a didn't work for me and I have already had Carbo/Taxol and Carbo/Caelyx. As my son and his family are visiting from New Zealand in July (prompted by my increasing ill health) I decided to try Anastrazole tablets rather than weekly Taxol,

Confused about osteoporosis treatment
Hi all, in 2019 whilst lifting my suitcase at the airport I had a horrendous pain in my lower back. Fast forward a few months finally got a x-ray which showed a compression fracture of L2. Finally got a dexa scan in April 2021 and confirmed osteoporosis of the spine with a T score of -3.9. My doctor

Osteoporosis at 29
Hi all, I’ve just been diagnosed with osteoporosis and I’m 29. This came about as I realised my toe was broken but didn’t have a clue how it happened so went to A&E. They x rayed it said it was fractured and also said my foot density looked on the lower side and to follow up with the GP. I did that and

Alendronic acid quandary
After a recent DEXA scan I have found that I have osteopenia of the hips and some osteoporosis at L3 and L4. My doctor has put me on Alendronic acid tablets and 1200 mg calcium supplements(Adcal D3). After the first six days I had constipation and consequent haemorrhoids. I took the alendronic acid and

Update after consultant visit
Here is the update after consultant visit. As PMR pro suspected I have now been put on Alendronic acid, a liquid bottle of 70mg made up with 30mg water to 100mg weekly due to recent DEXA scan. She did say she didn't think my scan was bad as I am just past menopaused and many women are at this point without

Flare following Prolia?
Good morning, everyone! I wonder if anyone else has had problems following a denosumab (Prolia) injection. I was first diagnosed with PMR in 2015, and at that point, was told to discontinue the alendronic acid that I had been on for many years because it had been discovered it was not the “wonder drug

Your thoughts/experience with zoledronic acid?
Good day, we had a consult with our urologist and he is prescribing zoldron for my dad because of metastasis, i have read some terrible side effects so i told our uro about that, to which he replied it probbly depends on the brand as some may have bad additives, also none of his patients reported any

Bone Scan advice
Hello all, just a quick query . I've been on pred since the beginning of March , currently 12.5mg. I'm on Alendronic Acid too. I have been on Letrozole since my Mastectomy in June 2019. I had a bone scan then which is standard when starting something like Letrozole as it increases osteoporosis risk.

Before You Book (or recommend) That Iron Infusion
Please read the article embedded in this post to FreeGaza. In my unprofessional opinion, if you feel you must have an infusion then ask for Iron Dextran. Dextrose is a single molecule sugar that theoretically should be able to cross the BBB. Injectafer and iron sucrose, in my humble opinion, don’t stand

Alendronate/fosamax part 2
In 2014, after taking alendonate for (?) 5+ years, my left femur broke as I walked down a very slight slope. I have a intramedullary pin running from hip to knee. In 2020, on March 3, after not taking AA for nearly 6 years, I stood up to get off the bus, and my right femur broke, same reason. Now

Hyaluronic acid treatment for damaged bladder
Hi guys finally getting some answers of what has been going on with my bladder. (Bleeding from it) Had a cystoscopy yesterday, after the usual embarrassing bits, I found it quite fascinating to see inside my bladder on the screen. She never gave me a diagnosis but looking at my past history it is probably

The Role Of Bile Acids In Prostate Cancer
Bile acids (BAs) belong to cholesterol-derived sterols. Due to the side chain carboxyl group and hydroxylation of their steroid ring they are more polar than cholesterol. They have an amphipatic character for which they are known as natural detergents. Majority of cholesterol is excreted by bile acids
