Why Sudden increase in degenerative bone disease?
Wish I never did this
thyroidectomy
. I haven’t had my D tested in a long time as its almost impossible to get my doctor to give me one let alone a vitamin panel. I think next time I go for blood work I will pay out of pocket and treat myself if need be… aggravating.

Hypothyroid with adrenaline surges
Hi All, I have a history of total
thyroidectomy
(2006) and was on T4 till 2016 and made the transition to T3-only in 2017. While getting on T3-only, I have not been able to take my optimal dosage (75-100 mcg) due to adrenaline surges / anxiety feelings.

Tania Smith's take on our recent model paper
I'm sure many would like to hear your response to Gullo et al's 2017 research on T4-dosed patients after a
thyroidectomy
losing T3 in winter in Sicily while the thyroid-healthy people gained T3 in winter.

Thyroidectomy for Hyperthyroidism/Graves Disease
My endocrinologist doctor advised that either radioactive treatment or
Thyroidectomy
is needed to remove the Goiter as it won’t reduce with meds. Obviously surgery is quite extreme, but one thing I’m worried about is the weight gain after this surgery.

Total Thyroidectomy last week
Hi, I had a total
thyroidectomy
last week. I had multi-nodule goitre. Completely normal thyroid levels, although @radd had pointed out that some were low in the percentage scale. At one point one of my antibody panels was off but then completely normal on the next test.

Hypothyroidism affects corneal homeostasis and wound healing in mice
Methods: A hypothyroidism model was established by total
thyroidectomy
(TThy) in C57BL/6J mice. On day 10 after TThy, hypothyroidism was confirmed via thyronine (T3 and T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone serum levels.

Confused of Orpington
Had Graves and TED and had a full
thyroidectomy
about 13 years ago. Since then the GPs have dropped my Levo from 125mg to 75mg. Two previous test show I am over medicated. My latest results have come back with a TSH level of 4.9 which apparently is just above normal.

Thyroid test results with a total thyroidectomy
Can anyone answer my question - I had overactive thyroid in my teens then in 20’s had radioactive iodine followed by a ‘partial’
thyroidectomy
about 2 years later. I had cause to need an ultrasound on my throat about 30 years ago and this showed I had no thyroid tissue there at all.

Endocrinologist Keeps Lowering my Tirosint Dose
Hi Everyone, Since my partial
thyroidectomy
in December, I moved from an integrative practitioner to a new endocrinologist (who can better monitor my thyroid nodules) but who has also been adjusting my medication solely on TSH numbers.

On NDT and my TSH in a range
I had total
thyroidectomy
in 2017. I didn't feel well on Levo that's why I switched to NDT.

T3/T4 question
For the last month, I've been feeling better than I have since my
thyroidectomy
right after taking the higher dose of T3 myself. When I ran out of my prescription I refilled the 200 levo dose and I assume there would be not much change. I actually feel worse now after increasing the T4 dose.

Thyroidectomy - Any Happy Stories?
Having a total
thyroidectomy
soon, and it seems like the only thing I find online for life after the surgery are horror stories. Does anyone have anything close to a normal life after a total
thyroidectomy
or should I only prepare for despair?

Elevated TSH despite its suppression
I had a complete
thyroidectomy
and underwent radio iodine therapy. I take a high dose of T4 and normally my TSH level is 0.5 or below. In two recent blood tests my TSH was around 6mcUI/ml, just above and below, and T4 was at the upper limit (1.7ng/dl on last test, lab's max is 1.72).

Any Strategies For Controlling Blood Sugar While Taking Thyroid Meds
Before having my
thyroidectomy
my glucose levels never rose above 82. Controlling by morning blood sugars have been especially difficult, maybe due to taking the meds at 6am while the "Dawn Effect" is still present.

Thyroidectomy or Radioactive Iodine Treatment?
I am hyperthyroid through a multi nodular goitre. I was on Carbimazole for 18 mths and taken off to see whether it had sorted itself out. On my fourth quarter check after stopping my TSH has fallen and T3&T4 both gone over the top of the range, GP says primary hyperthyroid again. I ask the above question

I understand cancer and breathing issues are reasons for a
thyroidectomy
. - Are comprehensive tests done to decide if it is safe to leave the whole thyroid intact, - How do they test if both sides are producing thyroid hormones? 2.
