Ventolin and reflux???
Hi - it’s an unusual side effect (I don’t think it’s even listed as one!), but does anyone else get a worsening of reflux symptoms if they use too much ventolin? I’m currently on ranitidine (omeprazole ‘gave’ me reflux 🙄) and rarely get issues as was initially put on prophylactically due to pred until

Idiots Guide for Preventer Medication
I am coming up to my Annual Asthma Review and am looking for guidance regarding medications. I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma 30 years ago and had several hospital admissions for pneumonia around that time. Overall been well though and played rugby till I was 62. All that time was on preventer

How long have I got?
Hi, I was just diagnosed with COPD last month and have been trying to research the condition. My doctor was not helpful and just told me this was the result of my chest xray. I had to make an appointment for a spirometry test after research. I am still in shock and feel out of control. I am on beclometasone

What I wish I had known (and what I have learnt through trial and error!)
Asthma is a learning curve so here’s what I wish I had known from the beginning! In no particular order: 1. Asthma is different for everyone. Obvious now, but starting out to me asthma was asthma - a blue pump fixed it and a brown pump prevented it. Now I know all the different types and severity, and

Severe asthma attack ...still poorly
Hi guys I'll try and keep this as short as possible. I got out of hospital yesterday after a severe asthma attack. I didn't respond to nebulisers as much as they hoped so I had IV magnesium then had more or less continuous nebs and oxygen for 24 hours. I've been discharged on antibiotics, steroids 40mg

Peak flow
Hi can someone please explain peak flow to me? I take it twice a day at the minute as I've been feeling unwell for a week and I've been on a 5 day course of prednisolone. I find my peak flow has raised but I still feel quite poorly. Also, I think I had too much salbutamol today as I felt very shaky,

Dealing with smoke, stress, and extra heartbeats
Hi everyone. I've decided to come out from lurking on this forum and say hello. Here's a little about me. I was diagnosed several times over the years with mild asthma. It didn't trouble me much until wildfire smoke pollution took me over the edge and to the emergency room. I was better in the winter

Advice on taking Clenil?
I have been started on the brown Clenil inhaler on Monday after being diagnosed with allergic/seasonal asthma... I also take salbutamol too which I am fine with taking, however I have found I am struggling to take in the Clenil... I use my aerospace chamber spacer, but it just seems that when I take

Calling nebuliser users! RE: Help with choosing a new one
Having just found out that my Aquilon2 nebuliser was recalled in February (due to the manufacturer still marketing and distributing it after the withdrawal of the CE accreditation) I’m looking to buy a new nebuliser compressor. I have the older version of the Omron micro-air for when I’m out and about

Worsening Breathing Probs
I am currently on a beclomethasone inhaler for a couple of weeks, with a salbutamol one for 'just in case' as my GP thinks I may have asthma. I've had breathing issues on and off for a little under 2 months but over the past few weeks they've become progressively worse. It feels as if my diaphragm just

Do we have a right to choose inhaler?
When I was first diagnosed (COPD+Asthama) I was given seretide, I found it to be great, very quickly I was running upstairs again unfortunately I told the GP how happy I was with it and he said "well lets keep that for later then" and changed me to Indactorol. Well 7 years have passed and I have gone

Taking oxygen away!
No longer need oxygen after 4 years. FEV1 is 61. Do the Dr take in account that the test taken is given at rest and when exercising the oxygen level goes lower with just walking no housework, etc. I can hardly breath after going up stairs. At rest my oxygen is usually 96 with exercise even with meds

Return of childhood asthma/GERD
Hi I’m after some advice. Having had asthma since being 5/6 I got to age 13ish and stopped using any preventative medication just salbutamol on exercise/symptoms. Stared with really bad GERD possibly to be treated by surgery. Gastro surgeon asked GP to do spirometery and reversibility before surgery.

Albuterol Sulfate
If you have had your heart checked by a MD and you use Albuteral Sulfate, this can cause the chest pains. When I have the problem I drink a small bottle of water and the chest pain is resolved in a few minutes.
