Case study - an update. (might be of interest to "new" sufferers)
Have tried the usual Dopamine medications. ( Mirapexin, Neupro patch and
Requip
) All showed varying degress of success in reducing movements during sleep but all left me feeling as tired during the day as when I was on zero medication.

2 months after DBS implant
Leo has been able to cut down on his
Requip
. He is taking half the dose now. He took 4 pills a day and now only two. I hope he can lower it to one a day. We don't think he can stop it completely due to the Restless Legs problem. keeping the DBS programmed a very frustrating thing.

Is anyone else allergic to Sinemet?
Right now I use a combination of long acting
Requip
(Ropinirol) and a transdermal Emsam (Selegeline) patch. Both have their drawbacks (vertigo, dehydration, localized paresthesia) but so far I feel they manage my symptoms well without completely destroying my quality of life.

can anyone help please?
Went to my G.P. in desperation about a year ago who put me on
Requip
. I got up to 2m.g and they helped but I suffered a lot of nausea and fainting fits. I then heard of Nuepro patches so with reluctance G.P. put me on them. I have now worked up to 2.mg.

Sinemet CR
I have recently been prescribed Sinemet CR in addition to my usual meds of Stalevo and
Requip
XL to help with sleep problems. However, in addition to them not helping with sleep my tremor seems to be quite a bit worse.

Is efficiency of meds affected by weather?
I already take Stalevo and
Requip
daily and Sinemet CR at night I noticed my meds worked really well while on holiday in the Canaries earler in the year when my tremor was hardly noticeable. Maybe I should move there!

Hi all, I am new to this site & look forward to learning from you ways to live with RLS.
My physician discouraged the use of
Requip
for RLS after the drug was approved for that off-lable use. He indicated that the adverse side-effects were not things that he wanted to see in me.

Is anyone experiencing any of the OCD behavior from Mirapex?
I did but switched to
Requip
and the OCD is 99% gone. It does take care of the OCD better but also wears off quicker than Mirapex, made me very sleepy in afternoons and the tremors were a little more noticeable but it's worth the side affects to me.

Help! - I need sleep
I was taking Stalevo 100 4 times a day and
Requip
XL 8mg once a day but was recently given Sinemet Plus 25mg in addition. My sleep pattern was at the most 2 hours after going to bed and then usually a further, if lucky, 2 hours later. No sleep during the day.

We would like to try out the medication "Dopamine agonists" like Ropinirole (
Requip
), Pramipexole (Mirapex), Pergolide (Permax) and Rotigotine. Please advice your recommendations and if possible, please do give your inferences.

Drugs for Parkinson's- how do you spell their names?
The most commonly used drugs seem to be Madopar Sinemet Mirapexin also known as pramipexole
Requip
also known as ropinerole Symmetrel also known as amantadine CR after the first two means controlled release There are many other drugs that might be used, and it's confusing
