only change dosages with your GP agreeing, i am on 8 sinemet 25/100 a day plus 10 mg a day of Ropinerole a day

i try and spread my meds evenly across the day

Whatever drug you cut down on make sure you do so in small steps. Some of these Parkinson's drugs are dangerous if you suddenly stop altogether. To stop suddenly would leave you with the possibility of having Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS). Symptoms = feverishness, dodgy heatbeat raised blood pressure (I thnk). Anyway NMS is potentially lethal.

Thank you Pete.....I have decided to slowly decrease my requip, I think that would be easier

than going off my sinement....which I will discuss with my neurologist on my next appointment

And in any case Sinemet is the best anti-pd drug available so to cut down on Sinemet would be discarding the best phamacological help available..

I take 8 Sinemet Plus, 1Mg Azilect, 2x 100MG Amantadine and 16 MG Requip and Yes, I have had teeth gritting for some time. My Neurologist had nothing to suggest and my GP "thinks it will be the Parkinson's"

I agree with your choice of reducing Requip VERY slowly and would be interested in how you get on. I only take Requip because it was suggested as better than Ropinirol but I have often wondered if I could reduce it

I have to say as a 10 year veteran of Pd, my cocktail works very well although my dentist doesn't like the fact I am gritting my teeth

Good luck and keep in touch

Thanks for your input. I don't think my teeth grinding is " Parkinson's" because

it happened to me years ago when I took Paxil ( a serotonin uptake inhibitor anti-

depressant). When I finally stopped taking it, my teeth grinding stopped.

Bmakla, Teeth gritting was one of my earlier symptoms, came on before I started taking pd medications. It has currently progressed, becoming a lower jaw tremor as I tried to take the pressure off the teeth. I am taking 8 mg of Ropinerol and 1 25/100 Sinemet daily. This has reduced, but not stopped the tremors. I find, however, that chewing gum stops the jaw from trembling, (teeth from grinding), in the daytime and wearing a plastic mouth piece protects the teeth at night. As for reducing your Sinemet, my experience is only with lower dosages, but I have stopped using it once and came back on the advice of my neurologist.

I hope you find what works for you.

Thank you ronn, I guess I didn't associate my teeth grinding with Parkinson's. I don't grind at night, but usually at the end of the day around 3:00. I used to drink wine to help myself relax. My grinding has started again and I do it unconsciously until I have a bad headache......this happened when I was on paxil as I said before. I am in the process of reducing my meds to see if this helps......if it doesn't I will have to rethink the cause.

HI BMAKIA, I ALSO GRIND MY TEETH, MY DENTIST SET ME UP WITH A TOOTH GAURD IT IS CLEAR AND JUST COVERS MY LOWER SET OF TEETH AND IT FEELS GOOD ACTUALY . THE DENTIST SAID I HAD 3 CHOICE'S EITHER HAVE A ROOT CANAL, PULL THE TOOTH THAT HURT, OR TRY THE MOUTH PIECE, SO I TRYED THE MOUTH PIECE AND THAT WORKED REALY WELL FOR ME .AS FAR AS MY MEDS I AM ON STALEVO 200, 5 X A DAY AND 1 RASAGILIME DAILY. AND I BELEIVE I IS REALATED TO THE PARKNSONS. GOOD LUCK WITH IT .

Thanks CSEI for the input,

so if my teeth grinding is Parkinson's, reducing my meds should make it worse? This will be an experiment

i agree with that, a reduction in meds will make it worse ,good luck

With my teeth grinding my dentist made me retainers that I wear at night. Works well.

Now I am drooling at night. I jus moved to Arizona and have set up appointments with

three doctors already. Hoping for improvement... ~~Dennis
