Continuing flare of cough predominant asthma - amytryptiline
Hi guys, thought I'd post a quick update as it might help someone else sometime. I have cough predominant asthma, which means coughing is my main symptom but I do sometimes wheeze when I'm really bad, and I also can get tight and short of breath. I was discharged from hospital on 10th November after

Ventolin restricted
I’m having a bit of battle with my GP surgery’s pharmacy over the amount of ventolin I’m prescribed. I’ve had 13 vent inhalers since March 20 ( I know it’s a lot), however with frequent flare ups & attacks in the past 12 months they’ve been needed. Vent works and I see a difference but often in a position

When will asthmatics get COVID vaccine?
Hello, I am a 43 year old asthmatic and have been all my life. I get the flu jab for free every year as a result. My asthma is under control with inhalers, both brown and blue. My question is this - what priority group will I be in for the COVID vaccine? I am hoping it will be group 6 "all individuals

Combisal vs Fostair
My asthma has been somewhat out of control the last couple of months. My usual prescription of Fostair 100/6 (2 puffs twice a day) and daily Montelukast has not been working well enough. I 've also been getting nightly crackles in my chest when I breathe in, although the asthma nurse doesn't think

Home Nebs 🫁 - they may help improve QoL in severe asthmatics, but are they safe?! Everything you need to know!
Hi everyone. Another infomercial for you all! Hopefully this will be relatively short (but you know me... they never are 😅), and it’ll definitely shorten my next post (add-ons from consultants)! So here we go... Home nebs are almost always frowned upon by consultants (and definitely disapproved of by

Exercise / running/ attack
1st attack of the year. Ran 2 miles and couldn’t breathe. Just Had 6 puffs of my blue inhaler and am back Home now. I had 2 puffs before I went on the run as recommended by nurse. I guess thats running out the window for the foreseeable. I did the marathon in October without a wheeze in the world,

Help and advice needed for son
My son is nearly 11 and I’m writing to see if anyone might have had similar issues to him and for advice. Both my husband and I are really concerned about him. My son was hospitalised twice aged 5 with classic asthma symptoms (wheezing, unable to breathe) and has taken a preventer inhaler since. Now,

So..... you have asthma!
I hope most of this is not new to most people (and so apologies for probably boring you senseless 😅). But there seem to be quite a number of people new to asthma (hi and welcome to HU!) who haven't been told the basics and for whom proper monitoring and care is not happening. Also I know of people who

Recycling inhalers
Does anyone have any idea of the current state of affairs regarding recycling the plastic component of inhalers? GSK had a scheme, but just now when I looked for that webpage it was no longer there. Flare ups after reducing prednisolone
I’ve only been diagnosed with asthma recently and as I wasn’t using a preventer previously my symptoms were out of control and I was prescribed prednisolone. Initially this was only for 5 days but I struggled to come off them and so was put on them for a longer period. After speaking to a consultant
