Over Exercise?!!!
Hi. I have always valued all the contributions on this site since I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA in October 2021; this is my first post. Polymyalgia Rheumatica
I developed PMR in January 2015 and still struggling can’t get lower than 4.5mg
Prednisone
. Consequently I had to retire sooner than I wanted to. I have more bad days that good so difficult planning things as if I’m having a total fatigue day I just cannot muster up any enthusiasm or energy.

When I go with the new prescription should I ask for
prednisone
or prednisolone? I thought prednisolone might be better for my liver but is there any difference in the strength or problems with withdrawal between the two?

PMR & Stage II Polycystic Kidneys
PCP determined PMR based on my “tinman stiffness” and bloodwork showing crazy inflammation levels in late January, and started me on 20 mg of
prednisone
. An ultrasound and xray turned up polycystic kidneys with a too-large to pass stones.

PMR or RA?
- He is currently at 3mg
Prednisone
- He is also currently taking Methrotrexate (MTX) - 2.5mg tablets x 5 = 12.5 every Monday - Stiffness and achy in the morning. Difficulty bending down and impossible to get up from kneeling without assistance. Symptoms generally ease in the afternoon.

Double vision episode
Just had one. First since November 2021. Then I was on high dose pred for GCA, coming down. Continued to taper quite successfully, eventually to zero in November 2022. But PMR followed, so went onto 15mg pred, tapering again quite successfully. Down to 5 mg since 6th February. Clearly no blood test

Low carb diets
On top of everything else I'm now pre-diabetic. I wasn't prior to starting the steroids but as I'm now on 2 mg of Prednisolone a day and have been on 5 mg or less for over a year I suspect that Prednisolone is not the culprit. I've been looking at a diabetic website and it says that low carb is less

How it feels to have stopped steroids
Hi, just looking for some reassurance really. I stopped Prednisolone in November and felt OK, some stiffness in legs but no pain. And yoga and weekly exercise class has helped. Probably like most I felt much better when we got those odd spring days. And last week cut down a couple of bushes in the

Best time to take Prednisone
I heard PMRPro write that there is a best time to take the
prednisone
to help the adrenals wake up. I am at 4.5 mg now and taking it at 4 am has made all the difference --- no more headaches during tapering. But I am very interested in helping my adrenals wake up. Thank you all in advance.

PMR and statins
My hubby is the PMR sufferer and is five years in. He has had many ups and downs in that time but for the last four weeks he had come off Prednisolone altogether. He was then put on statins, and every week for the last three he has had a flare, not sure if it’s coming off them, even though he has come

Prednisone quandary
Im looking for some advice please. I'm currently on 7mg or pred and have been for many years. However over the last week I've experienced difficulty in walking. It's feels like I'm walking in deep mud. I've learnt to tolerate this problem but last Thursday it was quite extreme. I came home from walking

Well at least that’s one less thing to worry about.
I’m so pleased to learn that my recent dexa scan after seven years of prednisolone is normal and unchanged from three years ago. Not being a pill popper before diagnosis I have struggled to take the calcium and Vit D supplement and Alendronic Acid which were prescribed as routine by my GP. A dexa scan

Methotrexate
Hi, I have been on Prednisolone for the past two years for PMR and after various flares, ups and downs, am currently tapering and am at 9.5 mg daily, decreasing 0.5 mg every two weeks. At a routine drug review at the surgery this week the pharmacist said she was surprised I had not been put on Methotrexate
