Clinical Trial Considerations??
The ADT adds niraparib to the traditional abiraterone,
prednisone
, and leuprolide mix. Niraparib (a PARP inhibitor) was recently FDA approved for prostate cancer treatment, primarily for men with castration-resistant cancer. It’s been used with cervical and ovarian cancer.

increasing pred for flares...what next?
I've been moving along on 2mg
prednisone
for the past two months . I had a few health issues in addition to grieving the loss of my spouse . All this gradually increased my inflammation until i was in pain and stiff. I added 5mg extra to the 2mg for the past 5 days. I'm feeling a bit better.

73, RP 2021, BCR peaked PSA 2.2 2023, scrambling
MO says plan is to stabilize then add Abiraterone/
Prednisone
, worried a bit about blood pressure. Is BAT a viable way to push out the castration resistance window? Is Orovyx useful as an alternative to Lupron, worried about my heart?

Side-effects of using Ventolin every day
Other than ventolin, high
prednisone
works, I but I try to stay off it for as long as I can. I am also on Xolair and Trimbow. Thee two allow me to sleep and to work at the computer; without them, I would be in a hospital. But they are not enough for living a productive life.

Rheumatologist refuse to believe I have PMR.
I worked two long physical days at work without
prednisone
and it felt like hell. I am scheduled to work for the rest of the month. How will I get though, sigh........ I do not know if I have PMR, but I can say
prednisone
works where NSAIDS and Tylenol do not. Frustrated....

Recovery
I have a friend that has PMR and uses recovery in conjunction with
prednisone
. He says it’s helping him reduce his
prednisone
and is thinking of continuing with it when he gets off
prednisone
. I am presently reducing my
prednisone
.25 mg a month and am currently on 2 mg.

Profile Update
I was diagnosed with PMR early 2016 with 15 mgs
prednisone
. Since that year I've had right leg replacement and bleeding ulcer at the same time in 2017; another ulcer event 2018; PAD diagnosed 2021, left hip replaced 2022, and left knee meniscus repair last week 2023.

Silly Questions??
2) Why do some advanced prostate cancer patients have NO Chemo, and go directly to ADT + Abiraterone+
Prednisone
, while others begin treatment with chemo and radiation? What are the deciding criteria ??

I am down to 2mg prednisone. Not noticing typical PMR symptoms
While I am glad for this, I am mad that only a rheumy was smart-experienced enough to think of it, I likely could have saved months of lots higher
prednisone
dosing which for insulin dependent diabetics is a good idea. I also went to the hand orthopedist and it was a waste of time and money.

Extreme sweats will they diminish; Zitiga is it worth it
Is the Zytiga with 5mg
Prednisone
worth it considering the side effects and, if I am reading things correctly, only extends Lupron effectiveness only about 6 months? Thanks for any insights.

Hip pain
I've been tapering from 20 mg
prednisone
to 6 for 18 months, but even at higher levels the
prednisone
has not made much of a difference. I take Tylenol sometimes but don't want to take too much. I'd love to hear what others have done to deal with hip pain. Thanks.

UTI,s
Dropped fron 22.5

I will be off
prednisone
by tomorrow and will have repeat labs following. Let's pray all my markers have returned to normal. My markers have never been normal despite being on
prednisone
. So we will see.

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga,
prednisone
, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga.

”….it is unlikely that PMR will be diagnosed”
Do I simply take
Prednisone
if prescribed? Any help advice or information appreciated. I’m 71, fit for my age, not on any other medication (just come off Atorvsstatin). thanks

Hi there 👋
Always looking for tips in dealing with PMR,
prednisone
, side effects of steroids, tapering, lifestyle adjustments and interpersonal relations. And sometimes it’s great to have a place to check out if what I’m experiencing is par for the course or maybe it’s not PMR and I need to check it out.
