Do I have PMR? This is getting ridiculous.
My doctors think I am just experiencing adrenal fatigue along with "
prednisone
myalgia." They are now telling me that I likely *never* had PMR, and that all I have to do is taper from the
prednisone
, which I started doing more slowly again. (Last time I definitely went too fast.)

Trouble Tapering
My doctor started me on 40 mg
prednisone
. I think the higher dose was because I was in severe pain. It didn't take too long before I tapered to 20 mg. I then got down to 15 mg but had to go back up to 20 mg where I was stuck for a while. By this past February I had tapered to 16 mg.

My doctor won't acknowledge PMR without inflammation markers in blood tests.
Was vaguely suggested PMR by neurologist and given
prednisone
, I was well for about five months.after the trestment. The pain is back with a vengeance now in hips arms neck over and above not being able tp walk.

Wife wants to know if leftover prednisone can be used for general pain like taking an OTC pain pill, aspiring ibuprofen etc..
Simply short term like a couple of days. IT does seem to be a powerful drug though, but what about very short term use?

Stopped Prednisone Completely
Diagnosed in the fall of 2022 with PMR. Put on 13mg daily, the relief from the discomfort of PMR was immediate; overnight to be specific. The next month, began reducing my dosage about 1mg/mo. On 2023-10-06, began every other day dosage of 1mg. On 2023-12-26 I took my last dose and so far, so good

Possible GCA?
Also, I’ve had PMR for just over a year, currently 8 mg.
prednisone
. (Starting dose 10, and I’ve been up and down in dosage as I have tried to taper,.) My inflammation markers have never been out of range, until about 2 weeks ago when my CPR was 2.3.

Reducing TCZ?
I feel I'm on the home straight with my GCA/PMR, down to 2mg
prednisone
daily and weekly TCZ, (which I started Nov 21 and buy on private script as methotrexate was a nightmare for me)Rheumy says to get off pred completely before reducing TCZ.

Not PMR but RA
Insists the
prednisone
is not necessary and wants be to keep reducing by 2.5 mg a week from 17.5 where I am now. Started me slow on SSZ yesterday (500mg) and eventually will go to 3000 mg a day. Any thoughts?

Prednisone reduction
Started reducing my
prednisone
f r om 30 mg a day by 2.5 every two weeks and mow at 22.5. I follow this site continuously and get the impression this is on the fast side. Talked to Rheumatologist about slowing down a b d staying at 22.5 longer. He insists I should continue and start 20 mg now.

Still unclear about cortisol suppression
Do our adrenals shut down completely on
prednisone
or do they adjust depending on our dose of
prednisone
? I have assumed that as I have lowered my
prednisone
dose, my cortisol production is slowly creeping back up. Am I wrong?

Prednisone side effects
I am also on a second 5mg dose of
Prednisone
daily, for a total of 10mg. If I don't take the second dose, my blood pressure is not well controlled. (I've tried to reduce without luck) I thought
Prednisone
raised BP, but in my case I need it for control.

Actemra
I was on
prednisone
and methotrexate for over a year, but then I changed rheumatologists my new one recommended at Actemra actpen. I give myself a dose once every 3 weeks and it has been a great alternative to
prednisone
. My ESR and CRP numbers are always low.

Clinical Trial Considerations??
The ADT adds niraparib to the traditional abiraterone,
prednisone
, and leuprolide mix. Niraparib (a PARP inhibitor) was recently FDA approved for prostate cancer treatment, primarily for men with castration-resistant cancer. It’s been used with cervical and ovarian cancer.
