Joe had cattle in the fields behind the cottage...he'd come to check on them at two in the morning...park right outside our front door with the car radio blaring and then walk straight across our vegetable garden... GP Questioning Diagnosis
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with Asthma, I am 36 so this is adult onset. My journey started a couple of years ago when I had a bad flare up following exposure to a large amount of dust (the office air conditioning unit was serviced by my desk and produced what I can only describe as a dust

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a great christmas. I have a question for all you ex-smokers. what stage of copd were you at when you quit ? Or maybe your still smoking. What was your fev 1 when you finally got rid of the smoking dragon? How about some pointers for the fools among us. Did you feel better

Is it really asthma?
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with asthma following a bout of whooping cough as a baby. In and out of hospital a lot as a child. Grew out of it at the age of 11, but it came back following a bereavement when I was in my 30's. I'm 62 now, and on Symbicort (which gives me horrendous leg and foot cramps

Unhappy with asthma specialist
Hi, my now 9 yr old daughter was having some trouble breathing, and said she felt like she was being stabbed with pins in the chest. I took her to the doctor, obviously, and was told he wanted to check her out for asthma, so he sent me to the practice asthma specialist, for a spirometry test. We

Peak Flow / Some questions
Hi everyone, I recently posted about having quit smoking. I'm now onto day 8 :) Anyway, saw my Asthma Nurse this morning. She's given me one of those Peak Flow meter things. I haven't used one in years! Anyway, my reading was 520, which was normal for my height etc. But what I don't understand

Struggling
Hi, on Friday I started to feel poorly, my peak flow is usually around 300/320, but it had dropped to 250, I managed to get an appointment with my GP for early Saturday morning. At the Doctors my peak flow was down to 200, he prescribed a 7 day course of clarithromycin and 7 days of steroids. Normally

Hi - I have asthma and normally it doesn't cause too much of a problem for me. When I have a cold, flu or chest infection, I am highly prone to a significant drop in my peak flow. I have this problem on average only once every year to two years. Because I used to sing, my average peak flow count is

should I go back on my preventer?
I stopped taking my symbicort at the end of september as I'd gone on hoiday and forgotten to pack it and as I've not needed to use any inhalers for a few months I decided to stay off it. I've felt no real change at all for the first few weeks but I have been tracking my peak flows. My peak flow is normally

Hi I've been away from the forum for a while and had problems with my email so have had to create a new login - my old username was KaylaCP. I've had a lot of trouble with poorly controlled asthma and have had several admissions over the last six months. I was diagnosed as a child, had very severe asthma
