Methylprednisolone

In September 2013, I went to A&E with heavy menstrual bleeding and bruising and after a blood test my platelets were 4 so I was admitted for almost a week, i was on transexamic acid and methylprednisolone, then discharged after the bleeding had settled and my platelet count was 26.

Treatment of course is, you guessed it, high-dose steroids, starting with 3 days IV methylprednisolone, then oral steroids starting with 30mg/day for a week. Deep joy. So obesity, headaches, sleeplessness and even more bone density loss here we come!

I had an infusion yesterday (first one) and have developed a red face and chest, non itchy, looks like sunburn. Is this a recognised after effect of treatment?

He has a note from his doctor on his usual treatment but they have him on a methylprednisolone IV and then oral prednisone for a week, plus he is still using his flovent 8 puffs per day. Isn’t this a bit of overkill.

Does anyone have any experience of Methylpred. Jay has been having 4 weekly IV infusions instead of Triamcinolone injections. I know the Triamcinolone is a depot injection and lasts for around 4 weeks but am not sure how IV Methylpred works. He is having it over 1/2 and hour. Doesn't help when the

He has been on 40mg and kenalog injections and more recently iv methylprednisolone for the past 18 months. Anyone with any experience on this would be appreciated.
