My Journey
My journey started in November 2012. I had surgery for diverticulitis, the surgeon had to remove about 6 inches of my large intestine because it was twisted. One of his inside stitches let go so 5 days later my temperature was over 103, I was septic. Emergency surgery, a few more days in the hospital

Some very good news!
On July 11th I had the lower lobe of the right lung removed due to lung cancer. The pathologist report has come back, they got all the cancer out. NO CHEMO or RADIATION, just CTscans every 6 months for the next 5 years. This diagnosis scared me enough (plus the pain of surgery) to stop smoking. I

New patient-driven group for EGFR patients with resistance to targeted treatment
In case anyone has been wondering what I've been doing lately, I've been working on this project with 3 other EGFR+ lung cancer patients. A new patient-driven group is forming for lung cancer patients with EGFR mutations who have developed resistance to at least one EGFR targeted treatment drug. This

Worried and feeling sad
Hello, My husband was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in early 2012 and had a lobectomy in the April of that year. The disease was detected early and despite our requests, he did not have adjuvant chemotherapy. Our annual appointment with his surgeon were always really positive and they actually stated

stage 4 mutations question
Hello. My grandmother (88) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer 10 days ago. I am trying to help her and my parents make decisions. She has a tumor in her right lung and the doctor says that cancer cells are present in the fluid in her lung (which makes the stage 4). No other cancer is present

Treatment dilemma with stage IV squamous cell
My girlfriend has stage IV squamous cell carcinoma and has been offered pembrolizumab which if successful may give her some extra months. However she has also been told the side effects can be very nasty, and some people have died from the treatment. She already has bowel diseases and a weak heart so

Mets to ribs and spine confirmed.
Hi all I spoke to my mums CNS today and he confirmed that the uptake on the PET scan indicates cancerous deposits on 2 of my mums ribs and also the base of her spine. We don't know for sure that it is from the lung cancer or previous breast cancer but the specialists are going with it is more likely

Update - my Foundation One report is in. 😯
Friends, My last scan at the end of June made it official: no new spots, but everything is growing. I had already had a biopsy with a removal of a lymph node by that time so that we could get a comprehensive genomic analysis of where I'm at right now. The past month has been an exercise in patience as

I'm pleased it's so soon but have no idea what to expect, and am terrified of the outcome. There's part of me thinking this time next week my anxiety

My husband has stage 4 nsc lung cancer. Diagnosed in 2011. He first had proton radiation therapy but mass was behind his heart so they didn't get it all. He had 2 Opdivo last year but got bilateral pneumonia and blood clots in his lung. He survived but had a hard time of it. Pet showed reduction because
