The flip side of Ibrutinib; the roller coaster continues (atrial fibrillation / flutter)
I had previously had a less severely raised calcium level on another drug (
lenalidomide
) and it is likely that I am simply a biochemical oddball who has a tendency to calcium problems which are unmasked by drugs which destroy the CLL cells.

Imbruvica is on track to be a top seller for J&J and Pharmacyclics for years to come
Many are familiar to us; Imbruvica of course and Revlimid (
Lenalidomide
), Rituxan (Rituximab/Mabthera) and perhaps Gleevec (Imatinib), the drug that did for CML what we are still looking for with CLL.

Dr Sharman on Lenalidomide and Rituximab in Lymphoma
I'd heard that
Lenalidomide
has the unusual effect of boosting the immune system (most treatments have the opposite effect - hence Watch and Wait being the default 'treatment' for CLL).

Ibrutinib monotherapy Clinical Trial latest monitoring - month 40
One patient whose CLL expressed a "complex karyotype" was on Ibru/Imbru & Revlimid/
Lenalidomide
. Another patient was on a Trial Protocol with Obinutuzumab & TRU-16. This patient was doing quite well and was very pleased so far.

Dr Sharman explains how treatment options for the two main subtypes of the aggressive Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma are changing
http://www.cll-nhl.com/2013/12/diffuse-large-b-cell-lymphoma-knowing.html He also provides some interesting information on the wide difference in treatment response observed with
lenalidomide
and ibrutinib drugs when treating the two main DBLC subtypes and concludes [i]"I think we are getting really

Interesting read
To date, results suggest that
lenalidomide
is more active than thalidomide and does not cause the neurotoxicity seen with thalidomide.

Halted Clinical Trial Comparing Revlimid and Chlorambucil in Patients > 65
An unexpected significant increase in deaths in the
lenalidomide
arm of the trial lead the FDA to stop it. But I don't believe that is the whole story and this is too good a drug to throw out.
