Advice on taking Leflunomide
My consultant is now wanting to start me on
Leflunomide
. Having done my research I am reluctant to want to take it and wondered if anyone else is taking this medication and offer and advice.

Hip pain from sitting
I'm currently on 10mg
leflunomide
every other day, and 2.5 mg prednisolone every other day. Do any of you in the PMR community have a similar issue? Thank you for your feedback!

GCA, now PMR as well?
I suspect she will suggest
Leflunomide
as she has mentioned it before. I’m not keen to take another drug but what do you think, would it be helpful? Thank you so much for all your wise words, sorry you all have problems too but it’s lovely to know I’m not alone with this rubbish disease.

shoulder replacement surgery while on prednisone
My rheumatologist wants me to take
Leflunomide
to help taper. I took methotrexate for 4 months got down to 10 1/2 mg and had to go back up to 14 mg. I have had several returns of pain while tapering. I am reluctant to have the surgery but am weary of constant pain 24/7 interfering with daily life .

An early warning sign for the presence of giant cell arteritis in patients with polymyalgia rheumatica
The same group is doing a study on
leflunomide
in PMR. It looks hopeful for a better identification of patients presenting with PMR but actually with LVV and GCA - and given the large proportion of PMR patients they say have LVV/GCA it may well improve diagnosis of PMR too.

Hello Everybody I have had RA for over twenty years now, although initially it seemed to be held in control with the use of DMARDS, including Methotrexate, Sulfasalazine,
Leflunomide
and Etanercept, all of these had to be discontinued because of side effects i.e, infections and low platelets/thrombocytopenia

Leflunomide and alcohol
I'm in a transitioning stage between Tociluzumab and
Leflunomide
to help with PMR and GCA while very gradually tapering my Pred and trying to avoid any more flares. I'm using the last few TCZ doses every 2 weeks and taking 10mg LFM daily. I've been on it for 4 weeks now.

Yet another update
Unfortunately the PHN (post herpetic neuralgia) is not getting any better and the nerve pain around my right eye and forehead is doing my head in at times😫 The rheumatology department suggested to my GP that I trial
leflunomide
, they obviously didn’t check their records as they would have seen I had

Update on Leflunomide and Alcohol
All seems to be going well with
Leflunomide
at present, and I have the extra support of the last couple of Tociluzumide injections which I'm spacing out.

GP won't monitor Leflunomide, has anyone had this issue
He has suggested I move to
Leflunomide
as they are seeing some great results. He wrote to my GP but my GP won't prescribe this without a shared care agreement, these do not exist between the private and nhs sectors. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you get around it.

GCA and steroid reduction update
Dr also suggested I think about taking
Leflunomide
. I would be grateful for any experiences or advice about this as my initial reaction is not to add something else at this stage. Thank so much for your help, I so appreciate all your help on this forum.
