iodine
hi, does anyone on this site know if hypothyroid people need to take iodine. my daughter has read an article which says that people with hypothyroidism should take iodine supplements as everyone is very low on iodine especially people with hypothyroidism. I had understood we shouldn't take iodine supplements

Hello everyone. I'm in need of help. I had the following labs done yesterday, and have a Dr. appointment tomorrow.
Hello! I am new to the group, and so thankful I'm here. So much knowledge. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2009. Radioactive Iodine ablation was done in July 09 and I was then diagnosed with Graves disease. I went through radiation on my eyes, and a year later had orbital decompression surgery

IS ENDEMIC GOITER DUE TO A LACK OF IODINE?
Newly published article which asks a question which has wandered around my head for years. It seems improbable that goitre is solely caused by lack of iodine. Few other things are anything like that simple, so why should this be trivial? Hopefully, we will eventually see the author's answer.

Kelp supplements for bones
Does anyone use kelp supplements or weed itself for bone nutrition. It contains plenty of Vitamins and minerals. Its not something Australian culture seems to pursue but many countries do harvest kelp and other seaweeds and consume. There appear to be warnings about the amount of iodine especially if

Do I go for Radioactive Iodine for Graves Disease??
HI, I am looking for some advice as I just don't know if I should go for RAI treatment. I was first diagnosed with Graves Disease in 2010, after a very stressful time at work. I was put on Carbimazole & my levels came under control. I was taken off the pills & was ok for a while, then after another

Thyroid cancer and conservative management
Hi, I had half my thyroid removed in September and the results came back at papillary cancer. I’ve been told to consider myself cancer free as it was contained in right thyroid. However, two hospitals (East Surrey and Royal Marsden) have recommend having remaining thyroid removed followed by radiation

My Endocrinologist has said that I need to stop taking my current multivitamin and find one without iodine. I've looked on the internet with no luck. Does anyone know of any? Thanks

Seaweed
I bought some seaweed during the week to add to my miso soups. Here are the benefits of seaweed..... Like most land vegetables, seaweed contains vitamins A (beta carotene) and C. Vitamins with iodine
I’m looking at starting a multi vitamin spray, the BetterYou one has 150mcg iodine in it. I have Hashimoto’s and I’m not sure if iodine could be a problem. Thanks

Carbimazole is not working
This is my second time having an overactive thyroid - Graves. I started getting treated in March and since then I have had two spikes in my T4 - last reading it was 35 with me taking 25mg of Carbimazole. I am waiting for my new bloods just now and I don’t think the Carbimazole is working. My HR is regularly
