Iodine

Unfortunately because I am allergic to Iodine, I was unable to have it in the medium for the CT Scans and therefore the surgeon won’t know if I’ll need to have the lobe or the whole lung removed until he gets inside it.

Consequently, a very high iodine content remains in the body for up to 6months or beyond and can push thyroid numbers up or down via conversion process so I had to be cautious with levo increase.

the praticionner who order it told me that my adrenals were suffuring too much about this situation and that I should have high reverse t3 (I’m waiting for the result) and adviced me to take adrenals glandular and replace levothyrox by iodine. I’m currently taking 50ug of levothyroxine.

Morning all 😉 I have Hashimoto’s and have had radio active iodine treatment over 16 years ago so have been on Levothyroxine since. I’m familiar with all the testing and get regularly tested by my GP. I also private test occasionally to check my T3 as my local area do not test that on the NHS.

Recurrence in the left lobe, removal of the left lobe and lymph node curettage (totalization) in 1991 + iodine 131 treatment (repeated for 7 years). In France, doctor (and drug) prices are very reasonable. In Germany, too.

Treated with radioactive iodine 14 years ago and been on 100mg of levothyroxine ever since. He had a prostatectomy last June and we had put the tiredness down to that.

Another book I got, Iodine and Why You Need It by David Brownstein seems to show the opposite. I’m sure little iodine might work for some and a lot more iodine might work for other but curious on others thoughts. Thanks

I really don't want to go down the surgery or radioactive iodine route as my Endo team keep offering. Since I have not been able to get anyone from my Endo team, I have been researching the effects of PTU as I know nothing about this drug. Any advice or comments will be greatly received.

I read that fT4 low and fT3 midrange could mean to be iodine deficient. Currently, I do not take any Thyroxine, and have not before. Which way should I go? Take iodine, take T4 or T4/T3, a combination of these, or something different? Any ideas are welcome.

I'm HypoThyroid and not receiving any treatment for that due to the fact I supplemented with iodine. Hence, the GP wants to wait six months to see if it resolves itself, even though I've been subclinical for a couple of years.

My additional questions would be: - can I improve by adding iodine, if so how to do it safely? - should I start taking steps to improve thyroid? - how to help my adrenals and will it improve my chronic insomnia? - how to improve my ferritin? - is it a good idea to try LDN in my case?

Had total thyroid and parathyroid removal in august 2022 found to have thyroid cancer, had radio active iodine treatment in feb 2023 given all clear in April 2023 just being monitored now. Thyroid levels being controlled by oncologist.

2 weeks ago had Thyroidectomy plus glands removed. Waiting for the RAI. Terrified of salivary gland damage. Alone not much support. Has anyone else had this one off treatment?

Will he check nutrients like iodine, selenium etc? I am going to ask to be tested for Hashimoto as I don’t think I ever have been tested for that and only ever been told it’s primary hypothyroidism. thanks x

I have graves disease which was treated with radioactive iodine in 2013. Since then I have been taking Accord Levothyroxine with no problems. Two months ago the pharmacy gave me Teva I didn't think anything of it. Since then I have gradually become very ill.

Functional herb doc thinks I didn't need the extra iodine and I created hot nodules against this while my system was suppressed with grief and stress. Carbimazole does zilch for nodules so hoping for radio ablation. Not keenon radioactive anything especially with risk of leukemia after.

I understand that this can be counterated by Selenium and Iodine. I do consume foods that contain both of these, but I can't be certain I get enough Iodine to counteract the amount of raw Kale I eat (approx 2/12 large fistfuls each day. I drink, probably, at least one pint of milk each day.
