Good news on mutant allele reduction on Jakafi.
Hopetohelp's post about mutant allele % prompted me to share some good news. I was diagnosed with PV and JAK2 V617F in July 2021 after a heart attack caused by a blocked artery. At that point my mutant allele frequency was 60%. I started on hydroxyurea, but as it did nothing to relieve my severe itching

Haematology Appointment Update
Then may be going on to Peg
Interferon
depending on next blood results. ( or even a return to hydroxy) I was very worried about the appointment as the clinical nurse had intimated leukaemia and myleofibrosis!

Clinical Trial Exceed ET
Not sure if that means your dose of HU, Anagrelide, or the
Interferon
. My question is for people already taking this drug. What is your dosage and frequency of use? How has the amount taken affected you? What are your side effects? How long have you been on this drug?

Progression to MF
I have been on peg
interferon
for the past 4 weeks (45mg) running alongside my HU . I had bloods yesterday and there has been no change. Platelets at 800+ and neutrophils at 1.3 . They have decided to continue as is for another month.

Organ damage in SLE is linked to cognitive dysfunction
Similarly, patients with high
interferon
(IFN) gene signature had lower odds of cognitive dysfunction. No associations were found between any therapy and cognitive dysfunction or domain test scores.

Mis-diagnosed infection
ER doctor said it was a typical
interferon
reaction & sent me home. Two days later I get in to see my primary care nurse practitioner and she didn't know. She prescribed an antibiotic for ten days, taken every six hours.

I've discussed with my consultant and I'm planning on changing medication to Anagrelide or
Interferon
, for this reason. Hope I'm making the right decision!

Hormones?
Anyone out there on birth control or any type of hormone? I think between a phlebotomy I had about a month ago and Besremi have thrown my hormones off. I have been on my cycle almost a month. I am perimenopausal being 41, but been reading a lot about interferons and the affect on menstrual cycles.

Starting Pegasys Friday
Currently on Hydroxurea (1500mg per day) and transitioning to
interferon
on Friday. The plan is to still take one pill of Hydrea a day and start with an
interferon
dose of 45mcg.

Just saw MPN Specialist | ET+CALR
He agreed that
Interferon
(Pegasys) is the best treatment at this point. I asked him about Besremi and he said that only people with PV have this option (from insurance companies) but he doesn't prefer one over the other. So Pegasys is fine.
