Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)

Without this, I’ll have 5.5 weeks of IMRT as my only RT. No brachy option either. —my PSMA PET scan showed a suspected bone met on my skull frontal bone, but was ruled unlikely by both med teams. MRI shows activity as black rather than white, which would rule out malignancy.

Go for IMRT radiation in a couple weeks. My question is has anyone else had these reactions to these meds and if so what did you do about it?

To recap....PT3bN1Mx, RP in 2019, IMRT 2020 and on ADT for 30 months, currently completed a 20-month ADT vacation. Current PSA is <0.01.

So, IMRT to those lymph nodes. I'm happy that I have a cancer that really has no overt symptoms.

PSA still undetectable after RT IMRT/VMAT to prostate bed and pelvic floor accompanied by 24 months of Lupron. This was my third regimen after DXed in 11/2017, for more details pls refer to my bio. I will now stop Lupron, let’s see what the future will bring.

Had 39 IMRT salvage radiation sessions. Just had my 3rd three month Lupron injection and take the 4 horse pills daily. Right now my PSA and testosterone are negligible as well.

VMAT IMRT + HT, VMAT IMRT without HT, possibly LDR Brachytherapy, Active Surveillance are the only treatments available to me in my neck of the woods. Which would you recommend given my stats. Was there anything I missed out or should clarify in the biopsy stats?

I understand that both treatments are comparable in terms of toxicity and cure rate, but a radiation oncologist mentioned that proton therapy may carry a lower risk of secondary cancers 30-40 years down the line, making it a more logical option for me. Nurse told me that my MO would like to see me early to discuss more radiation( recent psma found areas of avidity only in prostate bed……initial tx was 48 grey imrt back in 2014….no ADT. No other tx until recent ADT.

Gleason 7 4-3..IMRT 20 txs finished 2/28 No after effects went fine except for 4 months adt (orgovyxx) ..still little recovery (T-98) 1 year after ending adt 5/23 recovery only to 98 in one year , baseline before adt 286 with everything working fine.

D-Day arrives August 6th for IG/IMRT. Two very kind and empathetic technicians attend to my placement on the treatment bed. Lasers aligned, they leave the room and this giant green machine (which I had not previously met) begins whirring and gyrating about my torso with beeps and clunks.

IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, other? 3. What are possible side effects and how does one deal with them? 4. Should I consider spacer gels to protect rectum? My own understanding of the radiation process is minimal and I hope you guys can shed light on it for me. Many thanks, David

I underwent 25 IMRT sessions in Dec 2020. Upon completion of the IMRT my PSA and testosterone levels were acceptably low so I chose not to undergo further treatment at that time and as of Jan.2024 I am still off any treatments.

My treatments: brachytherapy, imrt, lupron, abiraterone. SE’s have been tolerable. Have even been able to rebuild muscles after hip replacement, although gained an inch or two at waist. what are pro/cons of 2 yes vs 3yrs of ADT. Should I ask for 3 years?

About to start ADT for Gleason 9 (5+4) for locally advanced prostate cancer, followed by IMRT in 1-2 months. (Plan to ask about HDR boost).

Finished my 6 weeks of IMRT about 6 weeks ago. 3,000 cGy / 3,000 cGy (5 of 5 fractions) to rib, 7,000 cGy / 7,000 cGy (28 of 28 fractions) to prostate and pelvis. PSA was 0.14 the day before treatment began. My MO thinks I'm doing great and will keep me on ADT for another two years.

He went on doublet with Lupron/Abi/Pred and we made the personal decision to pursue extended pelvic IMRT with boost to avid nodes.

Finished IMRT/ SBRT radiation to lymph nodes last week. Since then Ive begun have early AM restricted urinary flow - Very narrow stream. Rad Onc suggested tamsulosin or ibuprophen. MO, tamsulosin. Any work around for the early AM problem that I could take overnight?
