Giving up
I've been doing
haemodialysis
for a little over 3 years. And I have been like clock work never missing a session. But lately I'm wanting to give up. I'm struggling with my dry weight and I was wondering if anyone has felt like this or is going through this. Quita55

How to control thirst to avoid Fluid overload

Removal of Haemodialysis Fistula
Hi, Is there anyone who has had a
haemodialysis
fistula removed after a successful transplant. My consultant recommended it today under a general anesthetic as it's a bit fast, a bit strong and my skin is a bit too thin in places.

The dialysis journey continues at home
Here is my latest on my journey in home hemodialysis. I started this process on October 16th. And we came home on December 18th. Many people get home faster but I had issues with a couple of weeks of when they infiltrated my fistula (poked through it and I was bleeding internally). The problem was the

The Truth about Home Hemodialysis
It has been the hardest month I have ever had in my life. I promised I would write an honest and complete description of the process. I started on October 16th. The first week, I wrote about already. Not too many issues. But in my head, I was so overwhelmed. I was not ready for dialysis mentally in

Dialysis or Transplant?
Only
Haemodialysis
, as I am on my own with no support it would be in hospital. Also it would be in a satellite premises a 1.5 hours away from my home! Not happy. Latest, my diabetic reading has gone up so my Neph has asked my GP's to issue a certain tablet.

First dialysis.... not for a wuss
As I promised, I am going to document my journey as I have done before. Now it is hemodialysis. Holy mackerel. Anyone who thinks this is easy, let them sit in the chair for a turn and see what they think. My husband came with me and will be attending the training with me for the next five weeks. I am

What it is like to get an AV fistula, My journey
I am writing this for those who are heading to dialysis and want to know what it is like. As RonZone did with PD, I am talking about home hemodialysis, HHD. My lab numbers are at the point to "get-er done." The first step: I was scheduled for an AV fistula; first-stage left brachiobasilic fistula

Fed Up with everything.
I have been on
haemodialysis
since May. Having completed all the tests etc at the beginning of November, I was just waiting to go live in the transplant list.

I got the call!
I have been on the list for 3 years and had
haemodialysis
for 2 years. Shock, joy, disbelief, excitement and anxiety all kicked in at once. The renal team at Addenbrookes in Cambridge looked after me so well. I came home 8 days after the operation and I feel like a different person.

There is fun to be had and there's always room for change
Mum eventually went on
haemodialysis
and after six months of being on the transplant list, she received a very healthy kidney which lasted the rest of her life. She never made a 'thing' of it, but I wish she had told me more. And this is what I would say to anyone. TALK!!
