New- Son recovering from severe acute intractable asthma requiring ventilation and dnase
He was on
flixotide
until he was 7 and since then had not had any symptoms or treatment. So this episode was a huge shock. Has anyone had a similar experience? We are so grateful that he survived.

Uncontrolled, Steroid Resistant Asthma
The lowest dose of
Flixotide
induces clinically-observable psychosis in me. I have also tried combination inhalers with the same results. I have now been prescribed Salmetrol as a single inhaler, even though this is not best advice.

Not sure whether Dr is right and what about competitive cycling?
I pressed her for a prescription so that I could try an alternative preventer and I now have
Flixotide
- I've been able to use this with no difficulty at all. Was I right to insist on having a preventer? From the posts here I think I do need one.

Low morning peak flows
I use the usual meds -
flixotide
250 - 4 x 2/day, serevent x 2/day, theophylline 400mg x 2/day and I am currently using nebs morning (necessary to recover) and night (in an attempt to prevent low peak flows on waking)- these ventoline 5mg or atrovent if ventoline does not work.

cfc free inhalers making me ill
I am at present toying with the
Flixotide
accuhaler, which I have tried before and had headaches from, but thats better than migraines. Throughout this the GP seems to be not bothered says ring Paramedics if you get bad, which I had done twice, they nebulise me and then send me home.
