She suggested dutasteride but with similar mechanism of action I want no part of that either. I will be 74 in a few weeks. I received full gland HIFU ablation surgery in 2016. I received a 6 month eligard shot months before that. Since then I have been off ADT. Oh, I had a pylarify scan Sept '23.

Does anyone know of any studies or MO advice they've gotten regarding use of Dutasteride or Finasteride at very early signs of Biochemical Reccurrence (uPSA in the 0.03 - 0.1 range) prior to Salvage Radiotherapy?

I believe the general rule of thumb is on 5-ARIs like Avodart (Dutasteride) you are supposed to double the PSA reading to get the "real" PSA?

This does not seem to be the case with Dutasteride as this study indicates it actually makes PSA reliability for detection of cancer MORE accurate!

In 2014 my PSA was over 5.0 and went on bicalutamide + dutasteride as alternative ADT. Positive PLNs on PSMA in 2019 led to hemipelvic SRT and 6 months ADT. However, PSA rising in 2021 to 0.20 and repeat PSMA PET showed recurrence in two new LN sites, one para-aortic, so now metastatic. 

Small prostate volume 22mls ( have been on Dutasteride) CT at diagnosis minimally prominent left pelvic wall nodes nil else. F18 PSMA Sept 2023 : pelvic lymph nodes + para aortic nodes, highest lymph node below left renal vein. T2cN1M0.

I am on continuous Eligard, with dutasteride during the last three of the six periods. Each testosterone shot was 400 mg, given at intervals of two months or more. I also take a lot of the usual supplements. Prior to beginning BAT my PSA had been undetectable (<0.02) for some time.

Thus, a cautious approach would be the use of a dual SRD5A1 and SRD5A2 inhibitor, e.g. dutasteride. However even with inhibition of this enzyme, T would continue to build up and may be sufficient to cause tumor growth (99).

I am taking dutasteride and bicalutamide. Are they called gynecomastia? Is there anybody who knows what do do? I see my doctor in the middle of December, but is this an emergency ? Do I have to the doctor now? My breasts also aseem to be getting bigger a little by little.

Gl 5+4 Adjusted PSA at diagnosis of 27 ( was on Dutasteride) cT2 N1 M0 . Pelvic and para aortic nodes on PMSA PET scan . Started on ADT in October 22.

I was put on medication by my GP called, (DUTASTERIDE/TAMSULOSIN) which on my container is called, DOUBLUTS MR-CAPSULES 500MCG/400MCG.This I took once a day for three months until my prostrate settled down and the pain was gone.

I'm 4 years in on the standard triple blockade (Abiraterone / Orgovyx / Dutasteride) and things are going very well. PSA is stable at < 0.01. And I just rode a century ride this past weekend. (woot!)

I do dutasteride everyday and bicalutamide everyday. However, I skip bica for every 2 weeks after I had it for 2 weeks. This iintermitent Bica treatment started 2 months ago (April 2022). PSA went down to 0.13 on June 1, 2022. It was 0.22 on May 1 and 0.88 on April 1, 2022.

Only taking Tamsulosin and Dutasteride now for 18 months. No ADT. Are these supplements a bad idea?

So, some men cover that possibility by taking the 5alpha-reductase inhibitor Dutasteride [Avodart].
