My question is can I stop having any
dopamine
or does my body need it. I've tried Lyrica but I put on sooo much weight so I stopped. I would love to stop taking mirapexin. Could I increase the Kratom.. Thank to you all. This site is a godsend

FDA Approval Sought to Begin Phase 2 Trial of KM-819
Parkinson’s disease is characterized by the death and dysfunction of neurons (nerve cells) that produce a chemical messenger called
dopamine
. KM-819 is an orally active molecule with the potential to be a disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson’s.

Augmentation
I guess I'm trying to determine if RLS augmentation is only experienced in those who have used
dopamine
agonists for a period of time? Or, do other classes of medications also cause augmentation to a degree? And last, how do we separate augmentation from the natural progression of untreated RLS?

Aerobic Exercise: Evidence for a Direct Brain Effect to Slow Parkinson Disease Progression
Of special concern with longer-standing PD is cognitive decline, as well as motor symptoms unresponsive to
dopamine
replacement therapy. Not fully recognized is the substantial accumulating evidence that long-term aerobic exercise may attenuate PD progression.

What is Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) and How Can I Make More of it?
Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4, sometimes THB) is a vital cofactor for numerous enzymes in the body, including those involved in the formation of nitric oxide (NO), and the key neurotransmitters
dopamine
, serotonin and epinephrine. https://www.mygenefood.com/blog/tetrahydrobiopterin-bh4-can-make/

Statin use may have a detrimental effect (faster increase in levodopa & dementia conversion )

dopamine
degeneration and long-term outcomes in patients with Parkinson’s disease." https://academic.oup.com/brain/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/brain/awab292/6339771

MSA with Ambroxol HCL - a tentative success story!
At least in terms of her character, psychology, social interactions etc - brain stuff relating to the
dopamine
systems I guess, her physical issues are improving more slowly. Which seems bizarre from a physiological point of view, since the
dopamine
(DaT?)

Pramipexole
Is it a
dopamine
agonist like the ropinerole? What are some of your experiences? I haven't filled the scrip yet and I may not, depending upon what some of you tell me. Thanks !

Overview of the Ataxias
Other rarely indicated tests include magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the brain,
dopamine
transporter SPECT (DaT) scan (typically abnormal in MSA-C), or genetic tests.

CDNF, Potential DMT for Parkinson’s, May Work as Nasal Spray
Positron-emission tomography (PET) imaging scans of brain areas where CDNF was administered registered higher levels of
dopamine
transporter, a protein that regulates the flow of
dopamine
between neurons.

Natural remedies and food supplements
These are developed in laboratories and may be synthetic or very often derived from natural substances, e.g. opioids, ergot-derived
dopamine
agonists. They are legally regulated as controlled drugs, prescribable drugs or as (approved) over the counter medicines.

Paper on meds that help DA withdrawal
Hello, can anyone please point me to a paper that details the drugs that can assist with
dopamine
agonist withdrawal, so that I can share with my doctor? I am stepping down from ropinirole now (due to augmentation, of course) and it is horrible.

Too Much D1...anyone? The untold (?) story behind augmentation
Let me preface (what's going to be an incredibly long post) with the fact that I know nothing about
dopamine
agonists or augmentation, except that the suffering it causes is more than I can bare.

The Thermodynamic Consequences of Parkinson's Disease
That the dopaminergic deficit of PD creates a problem with energy efficiency highlights the role played by the basal ganglia, and by
dopamine
, in thermodynamic governance.

We also observed that Eggerthella lenta significantly elevated in A53T transgenic monkeys, and Eggerthella lenta is a
dopamine
dehydroxylating strain that can convert
dopamine
to m-tyramine.
