Asking for a friend re patient leaflet info in the UK
If it was on the leaflet when my friend started on
Dopamine
Agonist meds but her GP didn't warn about it and kept increasing the Ropinerole to extremely high doses when augmentation was obviously happening could there still be a claim for negligence.

An Article from ABC (Australia)
It deals primarily with Parkinson's disease, and exposure to a particular pesticide, but given that rls is ALSO caused by damage to
dopamine
receptors (is that correct, Sue, Joolsg ?), it may be of some interest to those on here.

Which treatment after dopamine agonist withdrawal?
I'm currently fighting to withdraw from
dopamine
agonist (DA) after a severe augmentation. I was prescribed some other drugs to help me go through this process (tramadol, pregabaline, clonazepan, wellbrutin).

Nine out of ten participants experienced this increase, suggesting improved functioning of existing
dopamine
neurons. Neuromelanin levels also displayed an average increase, albeit with more variability among participants.

Hrt advice
I’ve taken
dopamine
pills for years for my symptoms and feel this has contributed to me feeling depressed. I’ve been clear of these awful pills for a long time and now take Gabapentin . I’m considering trying HRT for a whole host of symptoms as I’m menopausal and stopping Trazodone .

High-intensity Exercise Can Reverse Neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s Disease
In fact, after six months of exercise, the neurons actually had grown healthier and produced stronger
dopamine
signals.

Massachusetts Opioid Register Year 4 results
For those who have augmented on
dopamine
agonists and who have not responded to iron infusions or gabapentinoids, this study can help to persuade your doctor that opioids can be used safely to treat Refractory RLS. Interestingly 6.6% of the original 500 participants have switched to Buprenorphine.

Medscape article on RLS
We can also consider as-required dosing of
dopamine
agonists or long-acting
dopamine
agonists, such as rotigotine patches, to reduce the risk for augmentation. Long-acting
dopamine
agonists are also useful for those with significant daytime symptoms owing to their long duration of action.

Quetiapine
I decreased 400 mg to 12.5 mg because I didn't feel the emotions like being happy or having a pleasure doing anything and also because of the extreme anxiety, I am now at 12.5 mg and I don't feel still no emotions except anxiety, I don't laugh and not even a smile, even nicotine doesn't stimulate

Recent PGK1 and Terazosin Study
A new study (link below) published on Aug 21st, 2024 The study, published Aug. 21 in Science Advances, presented evidence that PGK1 is a “rate-limiting” enzyme in energy production in the output-signaling branches, or axons, of the
dopamine
neurons that are affected in Parkinson’s disease.
