Starting Chemo & Immunotherapy this week
My husband, Stevana on this site, finally has a date to start chemotherapy (
Docetaxel
) along with immunotherapy (Opdivo/Nivolumab) on August 13th. He was diagnosed on March 26, 2020. Because of extensive bone metastasis and lymph node involvement, he was not a candidate for surgery or radiation.

The Difficult Question most all of us will face.
Zolodex, Lupron, Casodex, Erleada, Xtandi, Zytiga w\predisone, now
Docetaxel
. We discussed the options again and how they could buy time or not. 1) Continue with Chemo but use Cabazitaxel instead: Cabazitaxel he said was more toxic and may be less tolerated than
Docetaxel
.

Update: Hormonotherapy + Docetaxel
Hi, My father had an appointment with the oncologist today after 2 chemotherapy sessions. It cannot be accompanied by due to COVID, they only allow when the person is no longer capable alone. Apparently, we have good news, with a drop in the initial PSA from 48 to 3 (today's analysis). The oncologist

First chemo, just sharing...
Started
docetaxel
plus carboplatin at DFCI in Boston yesterday. I'm told I will be on chemo for the rest of my life which will not be long given the aggressiveness of my cancer. Lucky me. I setup treatment option calls with MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Johns Hopkins.

1st Day post Docetaxel
Just an update on my Dad, he had is first treatment yesterday and last night his nurse called to let him know his PSA results came in! He went from 618 in May 2020 to 10.5 as of yesterday so we were excited that Hormone treatment is working. He goes for his Pegfilgrastim this afternoon is it inevitable

14 year journey
The last time it went above 40 I started the
docetaxel
chemotherapy. I have had 5 of those and my 6th will be next week. Still working, bowling, gardening, playing with grandchildren and enjoying life. This has been a rough road but I will keep fighting this disease until the bitter end.

Shout out for my stage 4, post-chemo, Gleason 9 road warrior husband of mine
But this particular dude with a lot of miles on him, a whole lot of treatment, 10
docetaxel
infusions that ended about seven weeks ago, plus Lupron, is out there biking his brains out. I guess I'd better make a blueberry pie, right?

PARP Inhibitors for Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate CancerInterview with Oliver Sartor MD
Nevertheless, the
docetaxel
was an option and a stratification variable in the PROfound study but not a requirement. Moving forward, the rPFS (radiographic progression-free survival) was unequivocally positive as a primary endpoint.

Treatment after chemo - PARP inhibitor or immunotherapy trial?
After completing 7 rounds of
docetaxel
, my PSA went from 32 to 8. Bone scan and CT show no disease progression but no significant decrease either. The majority of my mets are in bone with several suspicious lymph nodes.

My father is dealing with peripheral neuropathy after having several rounds of
docetaxel
