To travel or not…
I am very thankful to have found this group as it has provided considerable amounts of information that otherwise can be a challenge to find even with the internet at our fingertips. I am a 55 year old man who was officially diagnosed with AFib in December 2021 after spending the night in the hospital

AF triggers
I wrote this as a reply to another post but decided that it would just be hijacking the original post, so started a new one. I definitely have triggers for AF. Anything that my body doesn’t like will trigger AF. I have a very difficult diet. I am intolerant to gluten, dairy and soya. If I have any

AFib/Atrial Flutter Burden
Hello All, I just received my results from a 7 day Zio Monitor test. It says my AFib/Atrial Flutter burden is 18%, which is up from 3% last year. This seems significant to me and a little panic producing. My average heart rate while in these episodes is in the 80s. Even when not on a beta blocker my

My ICD works: Mind blown and feeling wobbly
Wow. My ICD did its fast pacing (ATP/anti-tachy pacing) earlier this week. I've only had the device for a couple of months. It quickly and safely brought me out of a dangerously fast arrhythmia. I wasn't aware the device was doing anything, but was aware of the episode as I felt really lousy and nearly

I can't sleep feel like my heart is going to stop
It's one of those nights again. I feel pressure in my chest. I thought I was going to be able to sleep today but I guess not. Its frustrating because I was already falling asleep but I was awaken by a sudden jerk. Now every time I am falling asleep I get woken up by the sudden jerk that makes me feel

Atrial fibrillation post ablation
Hi everyone! I have read the info sheet and noted that palpitations are normal for some time after an ablation. I had my second ablation 5 weeks ago for afib and flutter. Everything was quite quiet for 4 weeks and then bam a few minutes of afib. Now I have had a minute or so of afib everyday. My EPs

Pacemakers - what is your experience? The good, the bad and the ugly...
I may have to have a pacemaker fitted. Will I still be able to run long distance? What are the benefits and challenges you faced with your pacemaker... The dos and donts that May not necessarily be obvious. I do not know yet if I will be advised to have an icd or pacemaker but thanks to everyone who

What is life like with an icd?
I'm a very active person. 44 years old. I love to run. Is that still possible? What can I expect? Any information would be greatly appreciated... So daunting.

Heart rate in afib and when to go to ER or A&E
Sitting down watching tv and I felt in my chest I was trying to go into afib, so I grabbed my trusty oximeter and put it on and watched HR go down from 80s to 70s to 60s to 50s to 40s to a reading of 37 HR. Freaked me out so I got another oximeter different manufacturer and put it on and it read 37.

What Helps You Stay Awake During Daytime
My husband has stage 4 CRPC and has a fib so he cannot drink caffeinated coffee so how does he stay awake during the day? This is especially embarrassing during church. Any suggestions that have worked for others are appreciated.

ICD fitting tomorrow!
I have Long QT Syndrome, and had been asymptomatic for the last 46 years until a couple of weeks ago, and since then have had 5 episodes! I'm also an HGV driver. All 5 episodes have resulted in loss of consciousness, with incontinence, and the last 3 episodes lead to VF arrest needing CPR and defib.

Question for ACM/ARVC folk: Nocturnal ectopics/PVCs
Hello. I have some questions for other people who have ACM/ARVC and I hope you will be able to help. I'm feeling very groggy this morning. I was woken at 1am by frequent noticeable ectopics/PVCs and some non-sustained VTs (ratio of at least 3 per normal beat, approx total 90-110 PVCs per min). It was

Guilty or not ???
Today, after a few days of increasing pain in my neck, started on left side on Wednesday this morning also right side, I have taken extra 5mg Pred without consulting my GP who has previously indicated he was happy for me to manage my medication. For about 4 weeks now I have managed with 6mg Pred, so
