I saw recently someone posted a comment having to do with the importance of the programming after DBS surgery. Can I find more comments?

I have to fight the Beast
That's when I decided to look in clinical trials because I didn't want
DBS
. And found a trial that uses gene therapy this was 2009 and was lucky to get chosen . Went to Boston to have it done had 2 holes drilled in my head and had it done.

Parkinson's and Quality of Life - a patient's perspective
To a neurologist or neurosurgeon observing my dyskinesias, the option of deep brain stimulation (
DBS
) may seem like a logical choice. However, any procedure that could potentially compromise my ability to communicate is not worth the risk for me, even if it benefits my motor symptoms.

Deep Brain Stimlation (DBS)
I recently (June2nd) had the
DBS
op at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Having had PD for 17 years I would say the op has been a success. It is early days yet, but I hope to be back playing golf & tennis in the not too distant future.

Has anyone had the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) op? I have just had the op and am keen to share experiences. I have had PD for 17 years.
I would also be keen to know if anyone with PD goes to a gym. I go 2-3 times per week and again would be keen to share experiences. Thanks. Tony

Getting On Track
There is a honeymoon period with
dbs
. I felt so great the first week that I forgot to take my meds but then by the 2nd week everything kind of settle in. I finally figured out my daily dose of meds and got on track. . While this isn't the cure every ones hoping for its a start..

Is anyone else out there AMA negative. I keep getting little bits of info from my specialist and evidently I am consistently this.
I thought that PBC was usually AMA positive. Evidently I have persistently raised alkaline phosphatase. Is anybody else out there like me??

Measuring Tourette's
There is even a case of deep brain stimulation (
DBS
) where the patient's tics were a lot better after the operation, but they they didn't actually feel any better as they still had the urge to tic- an example of hard numbers not telling the truth of the situation.

Monkey Gone to Heaven
However,
DBS
is being used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, the the vast majority of
DBS
research that has been carried out has I the main been for PD and Epilepsy.

The Dreaded Manflu
I’ve escaped! Well, for a short while, whilst we enjoy a lovely Christmas dinner with the in-laws. Yesterday was my 37th birthday which the walking manflu didn’t realise until 3.15, no card, no present, (no Christmas present either) this has been an on-going problem since 2003 not just a manflu hic-up

A little bit down
I'm definitely not too keen on the idea of deep brain stimulation (
DBS
). I'm going to go have a shower because I was at work today and I have somehow managed, despite changing clothes, to retain the smell of hamster whizz, possibly in my hair so I am going for shower two now!

Another treatment with exciting results - Duodopa (levadopa-carbidopa gel)
I was thinking on
DBS
and reading the Postings on it. What an amazing procedure. The neuro surgeon i last heard talking about it does it under general anaesthetic using a DAT scan ( there isa scanner in the theatre!) for positioning of the probes.
