Gadolinium vs Iodine for Radiation Treatment
Gadolinium vs Iodine for Radiation Treatment A long-standing problem with cancer radiation therapy is that it is not effective at the center of tumors where oxygen levels are low due to the lack of blood vessels penetrating deeply into the tissue. ‘100,000 parameters’: WVU researcher leads effort to reduce data-transfer error in radiation therapy.
Just as helicopter traffic reporters use their "bird's eye view" to route drivers around roadblocks safely, radiation oncologists treating a variety of cancers can use new guidelines developed by a West Virginia University researcher to reduce mistakes in data transfer and more safely treat their patients

Advice needed on bone trauma
My skeleton is riddled with bone cancer, but since diagnosis December ’17 docetaxel, abiraterone and last Christmas, targeted radiotherapy on my prostate have kept things in check. However, two months ago I fell and badly bruised my left ribs, still twinging even now. The subsequent bone trauma increased

Understanding the Abscopal Effect and its Potential Role in Developing a Cure for Cancer-Part 2-Possible Ways to Ensure the Abscopal Effect
In my introduction on the abscopal effect, we left off with the concepts of ensuring the effect and lastly, prolonging the effect. At his time, I would like to review possible ways to ensure/expand the abscopal effect. In the article, they discussed using GM-CSF during treatment. GM-CSF is Granulocyte-macrophage

Understanding the Abscopal Effect and its Potential Role in Developing a Cure for Cancer-Part 1
Greetings FPC members, One of the more intensely studied phenomenon in cancer research has been the abscopal effect. As a true believer in SBRT and the abscopal effect, I have faced posters questioning the existence and benefits of the effect via SBRT in treating PCa. But what is the abscopal effect

Rising PSA despite salvage radiotherapy.
I have posted before but may be a short introduction helps. I am 71 yo and was dx of Gleason 6 back in May 2019 with PSA 10.5. Had my RARP in Toronto (Princess Margaret Hospital) in Oct 2019. I did not have lymph node exploration because the urologist did not feel that I needed it with Gleason 6. Pathology

Has anyone experienced severe stomach cramps while taking Faslodex injections?
I recently started Faslodex treatment, about 5 days later these horrible pains started in my upper abdomen. I just wondered if this is due to injections or my Y 90 radiation treatment I had on May 26. Has anyone had these treatments together ? I would love any suggestions. Please share your advise or

Small PSA rise after radiation: should I worry?
I finished five sessions of stereotactic radiotherapy of two pelvic lymph nodes on May 12, 2021. The first blood test a couple of weeks later showed a PSA rise to 20 from 16. Doctors said this was probably "flare". Then more than two months later, on July 14, PSA had risen just two points -- to 22

Help convincing surgeon
When I was officially diagnosed in sept 2019 with breast cancer ER negative HER2 positive and positive nodes. I had 4 months neojuvent chemo then due to lockdown had left breast and lymph nodes removed. This followed by a further 10 months of chemo and 20 sessions of radiotherapy. I know they removed

Is Bicalutamide the right treatment and when is a PET Scan required
I am a 64-year-old retired Army man living at Delhi in India diagnosed purely by chance…was taking meds for Rheumatoid Arthritis and the doc suggested getting an ultra sound to see if my liver was okay. It was but also showed a mildly enlarged prostate, so got a PSA test for the first time

D-dimer & Dangerous Blood Clots
I have posted quite a lot about the importance of D-dimer in the past 5+ years, but the recent post from 5_plus_4, "
I almost died Tuesday
" had me thinking that perhaps some basic information on coagulation issues needs to be reposted periodically, particularly for new members. No-one should die

Blood test finds 50 types of cancer is accurate enough to be rolled out
For anyone who has been treated with radiation therapy, this could be handy to keep an eye on potential secondary cancers. A simple blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer before any clinical signs or symptoms of the disease emerge in a person is accurate enough to be rolled out
