Vitamin D
Hi All, I've been on Gefitinib for 19 months and been getting rather down of late with what I take to be the numerous side effects. OK, I fully agree it's better than the alternative! My oncologist wondered if I had an underactive thyroid and included a blood test last time I had the usual consultation

Changing from crizotinib to ceritinib
My husband is about to change from crizotinib to
ceritinib
and I was wondering if anyone else had done this. I would be grateful for any advice on side effects, effectiveness etc of
ceritinib
and how it compares to crizotinib.

Paraneoplastic neuropathy?
I have been on Gefitinib successfully for 15 months now, but have recently started to experience a sporadic discomfort in my midriff region. It's difficult to describe, but feels rather like a tightening or straining of the muscles there. I experienced similar to this prior to starting on Gefitinib when

Positive news
Went to see my husbands oncologist Monday following the recent CT scan. We both went in with intrepidation but the news was fantastic. The tumour has shrunk again and some that had disappeared has not returned. In January 2017 we were hit with the news that he had lung cancer. It's been a roller coaster

Gefitinib break. 2 new tumours
I have been taking gefitinib for 3 years. I recently had a 2 week break and then my oncologist reduced my does to every other day due to bad hand and foot syndrome. my latest scan shows 2 new tumours. My oncologist seems fairly certain that gefitinib is no longer working. He doesn't think the break in

Hand and foot syndrome gefitinib
I have been taking gefitinib for over 2 1/2 years. For the last 2 days the soles of my feet have been very sore and bright red. It feels as though I have my feet in boiling water. The skin has split between 2 if my toes. My ankles and wrists are aching as well. I think I may have hand and foot syndrome

Folded nails from Gefitinib?
My Dad started Gefitinib on 19th Sept and has just developed the side-effect where one of his thumbnails has started to kink and fold. Apparently this is a known side effect and the literature suggests biotin to strengthen nails in general, lots of moisture (maybe moisture gloves at night) and keeping

NSCLC, Stage 4, EGFR Mutation, Gefitinib, pain on left side of abdomen
Hello All, my Mum was diagnosed: stage 4 NSCLC, metastasis to spine and lymph nodes. It was a shock to the whole family as she was asymptomatic. Mum has just started her 2nd cycle (Gefitinib). Her alanine transaminase shot to 318. Stopped Gefitinib for 5 days and it dropped to 250, so it's moving in

mTOR
Gecrellin mentioned Sirolimus [Rapamune, aka Rapamycin] in his recent post; it is an mTOR inhibitor. Rapamycin was in the news today, because of a dog study [1]. Just why this anti-aging study made the front page of the NY Times is a mystery, since there is coverage elsewhere going back to 2014. Anyway

ALK mutation
I think they are looking at crizitonib or
Ceritinib
? Are these any good? If the tumour shrinks enough can it become operable?

Does anyone have any experience of ceritinib (zykadia)?
Hello all This is a new treatment for those who are ALK+. It is currently being evaluated by the Scottish Medicines Consortium. If you have any comments or experiences you would be willing to share can you let me know. Feedback from anywhere in the UK welcome, it would be used as part of the Patient

Are you EGFR+?
We are looking for feedback on how you have coped with treatment and how it has impacted on your daily life. This is to help us make a submission to the Scottish Medicines Consortium regarding the drug gefitinib (Iressa). At present this drug and erlotinib (tarceva) are used to treat people with EGFR

NICE decision on access to Gefitinib(Iressa) and Erlotinib (Tarceva).
We are pleased to see NICE's announcement today on second line treatment for non small cell lung cancer using Gefitinib (Iressa) and Erlotinib (Tarceva). Second line treatment is when someone needs further treatment after chemotherapy because their cancer has progressed. The earlier Appraisal Committee

Benefits of Gefitinib
My husband (52) was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung Stage IV in Sept 2013, and was very unwell. He had liver, lymph and bone mets (causing a fractured pelvis). After just one dose of chemo they found he had the receptor that responds to Gefitinib. Having been on it for 3 months, and off work
