I am seriously ill at the moment.
I have never in my 18 years of life been seriously ill, but now for the first time, it's happening, and by god it's scary. I am basically having severe breathing difficulties, I've had a very rough few days. I went to the NHS walk in center on Sunday because I had a wheezy/tight chest, sore throat and

So fed up I could cry
Here I am on my third week of having a chest infection which is really upsetting my asthma, there's only so much coughing, wheezing, tight chest and breathlessness and sleepless nights you can take. I'm on maximum of all my medication and still my peak flow is ranging from 150 - 70 and my oxygen sats

Atrovent and Spiriva?
Hi, My gp has just changed me over to spiriva to take once a day from atrovent 4 times a day. Was wondering whether anyone has any experiences as whether it has helped get more control? I have been told that the spiriva replaces atrovent as it is a long acting version of the same drug. Compared

Feeling sad
My son Thomas has had brittle asthma since he was nine months old - he is now 12 years old. Even after all of this time I am still terrified when he starts to have an attack and he has had many. We have finally being given a nebuliser at home and that has helped as well as having the steroids at home

Nebuliser due for sale at Lidl for £19.99.
I was just checking what stuff will be for sale at Lidl and saw this. Due for sale on the 7th of October. I would suggest checking with your respiratory nurse, before purchasing though, if you are unsure. http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/SID-DB6AF840-008C9A8F/www_lidl_uk/hs.xsl/our-offers-2491.htm?action

Not sure what to do with current exacerbation
I'm feeling very frustrated with my current exacerbation: not sure what to do, when to go back to GP, when to make a fuss.I don't want to wear him out with my frequent flares, so trying to limit visits to really serious situations. But what the heck does ""serious"" mean when every day I'm spending

Just a quick update
Sorry I've not been around and posting recently, but I do try and pop in each day and read your posts. I care for my mum who has end stage emphysema, and nine lives I think. She has had a foot through deaths door a couple of times this year. When she was last discharged from hospital with yet another

Lung specialist totally stressed me out!
Hi guys, I know it's been a while since I posted. I actually got fired from my last job the day after I told my supervisor I was in the process of applying for FMLA. Here in the States if an employer has over 50 employees, they have to provide for the Family/Medical Leave Act. Basically it's an official

First post although member since 2012.
Hi, Although a member for over a year this is my first post in the forum. I hope the hot summer didn't affect your asthma too badly. I was diagnosed with asthma in 1987, a year after my multiple sclerosis diagnosis. For many years until about 1992, my symptoms were very mild, but then became progressively

Blackout
Did anyone see this programme on Channel 4 last week? Basically it was a case that the entire National Grid went down, and the country was without power for several weeks. They started running out of fuel etc, and anarchy ensued. It got to the point that the hospitals were running out of power. It got

This admission
Hiya everyone, I can well and truly eat my words after bragging about 2 weeks at home, which is the longest I've managed to be out in months! Admitted to a&e via resus last night with awful blood gasses. Had the usual treatment and my ABGs improved. Was feeling quite optimistic as I bounced back quickly

Hi everyone! Can anyone advise me on small battery/ plug in nebulisers for saline/ventolin nebs please.
I have checked out various sites online but there is nothing like recommendations. I have a portable nebuliser that works on a large rechargable battery or car ciggy lighter, but its past its sell by date, and its big and heavy, and I would like a small light handbag size one to allow me to go out and
