Remote control programming ( Turn me on)

Just turn me on, For goodness sake, Turn me on I say,

I’m not sure that I can wait very long; probably not another day.

My head is throbbing from electrodes in my brain bouncing to and fro.

And my chest muscles feel like I had a Boob Job with nothing to show.

Now for 3 weeks I will mark off each day as it goes by,

Just hoping that it will seem to make the long days fly

I have done extreme Sudoko puzzles for fear my cognitive skills are not in tact

And you know what - I still can’t work them and that’s just a fact

It has been almost 3 months since I was "turned on" The difference is incredible. As my 5 year old granddaughter days - Mimi - "you are magical"

On the other hand my 6 year old granddaughter asked me "how is your brain surgery going?" it tok me awhile to figure out that she though I had elected to have my head shaved and have really short hair - the I must need more brain surgery. Out of the mouth of babes.

POEM 6

Thank goodness… I have been turned on at long last

It is hard to believe that now I can actually walk fast

The before and after show what modern medicine can do

I just wish that all PD patients could have my experience too

Now don’t get me wrong, I had a couple of months that were very tough

But I’d elect to go through DBS again – to be where I am now is enough.
