Mannitol challenge
Hi, hope you are all well. 😊 Bit of a long story sorry…. I’ve recently seen a new consultant, who is sending me for a ‘mannitol’ challenge test and wondered if anyone else who has similar asthma to me, has had experience of this and what the outcome was. A consultant I saw a couple of years ago,

NHS medication requested from GP surgery
I expect we all have repeat scripts showing when we can request regular medication, and when it was last issued, the date we can request more, and date when review is due. Most of my items were due for review on Thursday 2 March 2023. However nothing has happened, except with my antibiotic Azithromycin

I finally received copy of my consultant report to my GP re face to face consultation on 3 March. Pleased that Azithromycin I’ve been taking 1 daily since 1 December is doing good job. Any advice gratefully recieved..Bronchiectasis exacerbation?
Good Morning all, just wanted to seek some help from those in the know ( albeit not medically trained). Mum is 94, started going downhill 8 weeks or so ago, tired, more short of breath than normal and sputum hard to clear and change of colour. Started her Co-amoxiclav but 8 days on no improvement so

stopping azithromycin
this is to ask people’s thoughts / experience not a suggestion! Azithromycin works really well. It is in multiple guidelines due to 3 high quality trials showing benefit. The trials only lasted 12 months. Longer term it seems to still help but no proof of this. Perhaps some need to stay on, some could

Asthma and Spiriva
Recently when visiting asthma specialist I was given Spiriva to try. So far it has caused pain in chest, coughing and tightness in lungs, feeling of vagueness, respiratory rate goes up for hours, and blood pressure goes up, muscle pain, generally not feeling great. I am allergic to one of the preservatives

Azithromycin 3X week for Bronchiectasis?
Hi everyone, Has anyone been on Azithromycin 500 mg. 3X per week? I am particularly interested in hearing if it improved your quality of life and if so, how long did it take to notice an improvement. Also, please share your experience with this. Thanks to all.

Azithromycin and IBD
Good morning everyone Firstly I just wanted to give a brief update from my last post 3 months ago. I have Bronchiectasis and I also have developed Ulcerative Colitis since that initial diagnosis. At the time it was thought this might have been linked to me taking Azithromycin as a prophylactic for a

Azithromycin side effects
I started long term (alternative days) azithromycin 250mg a few months. I am not able to take the capsules because I have a swolling problem, they were changed to tablets which can be taken with food. 3-4 hours after taking a tablet I start to feel really unwell, shivery, so tired, bloated, awful stomach

Big thank you for all your replies on prophylactic azithromycin and Doxi
Big thank you for all your replies concerning whether to stop azithromycin when taking Doxi. It gives me a warm feeling that there are so many caring, compassionate people willing to help. I totally appreciate we are not medically qualified to give advice on medications. For a start we may not know

I have mild Bronchiectasis and been very lucky in past few years. Tw days in a row I have been out in cold wind. Now my right lung is painful. I am taking carbocisteine and Azithromycin (long term). I am worried I will have a flare up? What is best thing to do and should I be taking the Doxycycline

Changed my consultant
From a few days I am experiencing bronch exacerbation with increased sputum which is dark. This time I decided to go to a different doctor who is also a bronch specialist. He told that I will have to have azithromycin long term; 6-8 months per year. The next thing he did is to change my inhaler from

chronic infections and trying to be a primary school teacher
Hello. This is my first post on here. I didn’t know this existed until a week ago and it’s good not to feel so alone! I have been a teacher (reception children aged 4-5) for over 15 years now. I am sure that it has contributed to me getting more chest infections. Last year I was on antibiotics pretty
