Episode 5
This was attempted in the early hours of Sunday with
amiodarone
. It failed. I was finally electrically cardioverted late Sunday morning with one shock of 200J. I'd been in AF for 25 hours.

Feeling sick all day, possible drug/alcohol interactions?
Before I started the

I have had the occasional drink at weekends with no ill effects - could it be the
Amiodarone

Lifestyle changes to help manage or possibly cure AF
In patients with persistent AF, the recurrence rate after acupuncture treatment was similar to that observed in patients on
amiodarone
, but significantly smaller than that measured after sham acupuncture treatment or in the absence of any antiarrhythmic drugs.

Magnesium and other supliments
I'm currently on warfarin, bisprolol and
amiodarone
. I do take omega 3, 6 & 9 as I read they were good for heart function and I have at least 1 or 2 bananas a day so probably have potassium covered too!

Atrial Fibrillation and Hyperthyroidism
I'd like to ask if anybody has developed AF either by having an overactive thyroid or vice versa, like me which was
Amiodarone
induced. The reason I ask is my AF over the past 4 months has been all over the place.

Amiodarone can affect your lungs!
Drugs such as nitrofurantoin,
amiodarone
, bleomycin, and many others can rarely cause interstitial lung disease. Do not panic if you are on them but worth talking to your GP if you have a lung condition too. Be Well

Effects of Increased Iodine Intake on Thyroid Disorders
Is
amiodarone
the cause of my thyroid problem? Are only Hashimoto's sufferers supposed to avoid iodine? And many, many more. Not for one minute do I blame the people asking the questions. If you don't know, ask!

My Different Outlook on Ablations
I was hospitalised several times and finally when all else failed (even a cardioversion) prescribed
Amiodarone
(hated taking that). I eagerly awaited a second ablation, thinking that would make me better. I had that in June 2013 and the procedure lasted 6 hrs.

Ablation Cancelled
I followed the instructions on my admission letter to stop my
amiodarone
and Bisoprolol 10 days and 5 days respectively prior to admission. Also had my Warfarin dosage adjusted to compensate for this.

Fed Up!
After losing a lot of weight I found out I have an overactive thyroid which was probably caused by being previously prescribed
Amiodarone
. Last week I saw my cardiologist for a consultation and it went OK. He has referred me for an ablation, so I guess that's one positive if all goes well.

Saw my EP last Thurday
OK options, well he mentioned 2,
Amiodarone
for 6 months and then a CV, but he’s not a fan due to the potential side effects and he says, it only tells us you can go back into NSR it won’t keep you there.

Questions
In this period I have changed medication to Flecainide (I was on Amiodarione for 16 months prior), back to
Amiodarone
and back to Flecainde, this is because I now have an overactive thyroid. I'm awaiting an appointment to see an Endo to address this.

Overactive Thyroid & Amiodarone
I'm also an Atrial Fibrillation sufferer and prior to April had been on an Anti Arrhythmia drug called
Amiodarone
for 18 months.
Amiodarone
is a drug that is quite high in iodine content and one of the known side effects is thyroid issues.
