Curcumin as an anti inflammatory
I believe
Actemra
works by blocking IL-6. Maybe the stumbling block is the amount of tumeric needed? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27719643/

Slow Pred taper for PMR and GCA
I am also on
Actemra
. I am doing a slow taper of Pred 1 mg every 6 weeks and currently at 8 mgs and I have 2 months left on
Actemra
. I am always light headed and it is not pleasant. Could it be the taper or the heart meds or a combination .

Nocturnal hypertension
I was placed on a biologic called
Actemra
to help me get disease under control and get off prednisone. For me, 5mg. is a milestone so I thought things would start looking up. I also take 5mg. of BuSpar for anxiety. It works great for anxiety.

Sharing so we can all be vigilant....staph and strep infection
Even though I had taken the
Actemra
the Friday before, my CRP was elevated, it is now within normal range, but like we keep hearing, that is not a guarantee of anything. My leg is still red and hot..but not purple~!! I have been taken off the
Actemra
temporarily until they get this under control.

Anyone with these neurological issues and health complications?
The rheumatologist has me on CellCept and Rituxan, and will be adding
Actemra
next week. My question is this, has anyone else experience similar rapidly progressing neuromuscular/neurological symptoms in a similar context? If so, what was the outcome?

TCZ (Actemra) effects: high blood pressure & skin bumps/rashes?
Am one of the PMR/GCA (lost sight of one eye) people and progressing steadily on a good path. Initially started on 100 mg of Pred working down to 5 before being put on TCZ. Gradually off the Pred and still on weekly injections of TCZ. During the first weeks of the drug, my feet swelled considerably but

Those with GCA. Would you take the booster if you had a flare with the vaccine.
One day before my second dose, I had a flare of GCA and eventually ended up on 47 mg of prednisone (I am also on
Actemra
). I am down to 7.5 mg of prednisone now.

Questioning benefit of boniva
GCA well controlled on
Actemra
& 4 mg prednisone. Anyone else experience similar results or good results on "bone building" rx? Any good suggestions. Really don't want to switch to another osteoporosis rx.

Roactemra Tocilizumab - lab out of stock - advice needed please.
Some of you may remember that I am taking Tocilizumab injections (only) regularly for GCA. Not long ago, others in my situation wrote saying that they had been warned that it was going to run out for a while due to the same drug being used world wide for covid patients. This has happened here in France

Advice regarding use of herbal licorice to help with taper
Began GCA treatment in June 2019,
Actemra
added October 2019. Most recently, I tried a DSNS taper mid April (.5 mg reduction) but had to abandon the plan because of severe jaw and neck pain by week 3. This pain stopped when I went back to 3 mg.

Adrenal insufficiency?
Also taking
actemra
. After my last infusion, my aches and pains are not too bad (blood markers for inflammation are great), but my fatigue is off the charts. Generally feeling totally frazzled when I can get myself off the couch / bed.

Actemra at 3mg prednisone for GCA
My specialist is referring me to a rheumatologist for advice regarding
Actemra
. I’m wondering how it will benefit me as my tapering is generally going well. I guess I’m asking for some opinions.

Has anyone noticed breakthrough headaches in the evening? Prednisone dose is taken in the morning.
I’m also on
Actemra
. I am still experiencing breakthrough headaches that reliably occur after around 8 pm. I almost never have a headache before 8 pm. Has anyone else has this pattern of headaches? My initial disease response to prednisone was more complete, no evening breakthrough.

Difficulty tapering and questions~!
After my initial infusions of steroids, I was on 125 mg per day of prednisone, then 100 mg for a month before switching to 85 mg per day of Methylprednisolone tabs plus
Actemra
, about 10/2019. I've gotten near 10 twice and had vision issues, but by July 2020, I was on 20 mg daily. Hoorah!

COVID Vaccination while taking Actemra
I am currently taking 2 mg Prednisone and
Actemra
. My Rheumatologist said it was not necessary to stop the
Actemra
before my vaccination. However, I will be off
Actemra
for 3 weeks after my vaccination as I need to stop the
Actemra
for my Cataract surgery.
