Michelle I have been trying to find the information about the difference between Autoinflammatory conditions and Autoimmune conditions which I think you posted. Could you post it again? Thanks.

Hi Faith12,
Sweet's syndrome (acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis) is an autoinflammatory condition and form of neutrophilic dermatosis. It's not autoimmune, but can develop secondary to autoimmune conditions.
Autoinflammatory conditions are rare conditions caused by errors in the innate immune system or that part of the immune system not always working in the way that it should. Most are genetic and affect children. SS isn't genetic, and mainly affects adults.
Neutrophilic dermatoses are conditions affecting the skin that occur as a result of lots of white blood cells/immune cells called neutrophils accumulating in the tissues, and can sometimes be a sign of underlying illness. Neutrophils are part of the innate immune system.
Autoimmune conditions involve the adaptive immune system (antibodies are part of this system).
Some doctors are still not familiar with autoinflammatory conditions, so call them autoimmune.
