Muscle is anti-aging!

Surfing the net and I found an article which emphasised the importance of strength work. It suggested several exercises, including common ones like squats, which we are familiar with on this forum.

I liked the first paragraph of the article and copy it here.

‘The good news? Muscle is anti-aging. It helps keep your metabolism up and allows you to continue having a high quality of life. Muscles give you the ability to continue doing the activities you enjoy… and when you think about it that way, strength training can take on a whole new—and very important—meaning.’

I am going to write a post-it note - ‘muscle is anti-aging’ and put it somewhere prominent!! Perhaps that will motivate me to do some strength exercises every day 😆🏋️‍♂️

Absolutely, squats are my friend and have strengthened my legs loads, i’m a bit lazy with strength training otherwise though so might stick that on my fridge

It's even more important for women than men who can suffer from osteoporosis as they age. It's a shame GPs don't actively encourage all women to strength train.

As you say, the mental and physical health benefits are considerable.
