Syncope or Epilepsy?

In some cases it may be unclear whether a blackout is due to Syncope or Epilepsy and you could be referred to a neurologist. The symptoms of some faints can appear like a seizure or fit, hence the confusion between Reflex Syncope and epilepsy. Accurate diagnosis rests on the circumstances of the episode, a full family medical history, an ECG to rule out any underlying heart condition and an EEG if epilepsy is suspected.
