Hi, I was diagnosed with PoTS last summer and currently taking ivabradine. Unfortunately my doctor has never heard of it and doesn’t offer any advice which is quite frustrating. If anyone has any tips on how I could manage it I would appreciate it.

Also I pay for my prescription each month, does anyone know if I’d be elegible for an exemption card?

Thanks.

Hello, I hope I can help you. You do not mention whether your doctor does not understand PoTS or the medication prescribed. You can share our PoTS booklet with your doctor. This can be downloaded from heartrhythmalliance.org/sta... The booklet contains hints and tips as well as information to share with your doctor. If you would like a printed copy, please email us info@stars.org.uk with your name and address and request a copy.

We do not know whether you would be exempt from prescription charges, however, if you are having to fill it every month, you might find it slightly cheaper to use a prepayment card nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcos...

Kind regards

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my doctor has never heard of PoTS and doesn’t understand anything about the condition. I will have a look at the booklet :)

Where are you based? Perhaps I could signpost you towards a specialist nearby who understands the condition. If you have any more questions though, please do get in touch. We are here to help.
