Hi all, I have a quick question. Can riding a stationary bicycle on a regular basis lead to joint pain in the hip area. Has anyone experienced this?

Flowers, usually riding a stationary bike will not damage your hip joint. The movement is smooth and not jarring. One could experience pain if there was overuse and inflammation of the soft tissues about the hip developed---tendonitis. But riding a bike (stationary or not) is very easy on the hip joint. Hope this helps!

Good to know this information and it is helpful so I thank you for the response. I may have been overzealous on occasion. Will stretch and calm it down a little. Again, appreciate the feedback.

SIMPLY RIDING A STATIONARY BIKE SHOULD NOT CAUSE A HIP PROBLEM. YOU MAY DEVELOP A BURSITIS ABOUT YOUR HIP. TRY STRETCHING BEFORE YOU GET ON THE BIKE. RJ

Great this is wonderful information. Will try to stretch prior to riding the bike. Thanks again.

Ive had bursitis twice in one hip for no apparent reason, both times it started in the fall and hung on all winter. Ive got a recumbent bike rather than an upright. Having the bigger seat makes it mire comfortable.

Thank you so much for this feedback. I have an upright bicycle with a bigger seat. What I did was step away from the bicycle for a about a week and it seems like it calmed it down. I guess I may have just overdone it. I like recumbent bikes better but don't have enough room for one so I will just have to learn not to go overboard on the bike. Stay well, keep moving and thanks again.
