My 8 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with Raynaud's. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with Raynaud's in children?

Keep her hands and feet warm, good gloves and woolly socks. Don't stop her doing anything and don't make her feel like an invalid. My daughter was more upset because at some point someone said it was called 'white rhino toe' than at anything else. She will be fine, though she won't grow out of it really, she'll just learn to deal with it. By the way my daughter grew up to be a police person and spent years on the beat, wearing woolly socks and good gloves.

Thanks for all the advice. I told her about your daughter growing up to be in the police and she was very reassured by that

Don't allow anyone to try to rub her hands to get them warm. I have had raynauds and scloraderma since I was a tot ( I am now 42) my worst memory of growing up with it was that people would always try and rub them to get them warm and I would scream in pain. There was a lot less awareness of it in those days though, I was 11 before they knew what it was! The kids said I had Smurfs disease but I thought that was great as Smurfs were the in thing at the time.

I use to have cold hands at times throu my teens while cycling- which I did everywhere...My Auntie us to knit me mitten and gloves of all colours and we would decorate them together..I have fun memories of this and made wearing them special...
