I started Losarten over a year ago. Never have had any side effects. Blood pressure now ranges from 110/60 to 124/68. Before Losarten blood pressure was 170/90, sometimes higher, sometimes lower but definitely hypertension.

Yes I take 100mg Losartan for hypertension but it also helps me avoid digital ulcers and severe impact of my secondary Raynaud’s. I too couldn’t tolerate any of the other medications although I do get monthly iloprost infusions which aren’t pleasant but help. No side effects at all from Losartan

I’ve been taking losartan for over 15 years. Initially given to me for Raynaud’s migraines. I was on 25mg twice a day. This was reduced to once a day as they added Amlodipine for what they diagnosed as Raynaud’s giving me heart spasms. I never had any side effects from Losartan unlike Nifidipine when they tried that. I’ve never had high blood pressure either. In fact years ago it was always on the low side. Now it’s normally 110/75 ish.

I was told they believe (Royal Free) Losartan protects the kidneys in connective tissue diseases but also might help slow progression in Raynaud’s. My Raynaud’s is relatively mild now but I didn’t initially notice a difference after taking it. Amlodipine really helped my migraines though and who knows both may have been worse now without them.

listen was a big improvement for me. I take 25mg all year, add in another 25mg from around September/Oct to around May, and only add in one of two nifedipine in really cold times. No side effects at all compared to nifedipine and Raynaud attacks really went down since I was on it. Good luck, hope it helps you too!

Thank you for the replies this all sounds promising the next option is iloprost infusion but not sure I’m ready for that 🫣!

Oh sorry didn’t mean to scare you 😊, had headaches, dizziness and generally exhausted and shortness of breath and felt sleepy so had to rest a bit which is unlike me.

I felt better after a while but the shortness of breath and tiredness never went away for me, but my blood pressure has always been on the low side so it could be just me.

I’d say everyone is different and just give time to your body to adjust to the drug then I hope it will work for you.

I was told two days ago that I had to stop taking it as it hasn’t made a massive difference to my Reynolds so have started Inifedipine.

I’d say it is a long term condition and it will take us all a long period of trial and changing drugs until we find what works for each one of us as our bodies are different.

Hi,

I started taking Losartan about 6 months ago, due to some plaque build up in coronary arteries and the need to keep blood pressure better, although I didn’t really have hypotension.

Then went back to Rheumatologist they said it would help with Raynauds and to see how I went on. To be honest haven’t noticed any side effects and seem to have had less Raynauds attacks this winter. Hope it helps you
