Hu I take it for high blood pressure but haven’t noticed making any difference to my Raynauds. That’s not to say it won’t work for you though give it a try. Good luck.

I was given it for Raynaud's but don't think it helped much. I've now got pulmonary hypertension and have been put on Sildenafil (viagra) and that really does seem to be making a difference.

me too: on low dose losartan for Raynaud’s over about 5 years…it barely helped at all…even when we tried slightly increased dose..now realise I should’ve asked for a more potent med earlier, because my childhood onset Raynaud’s became so severe even on losartan that it segued into irreparable ischema reperfusion injury of feet, so am now on scleroderma protocol high dose sildenafil, which is helping just enough to make life at 69 with the repercussions of severe early onset Raynaud’s etc a bit more bearable

I tried for a period of time as my dentist asked me to see if there was an alternative to nifedepine as that can affect the gum disease I have but it didn't seem to be as effective as nifedepine so I went back to that (but only take it from autumn and stop as soon as weather starts to get warmer)

I have problems with my gums too, but didnt think about nifedipine being a possible factor,i was also using an.inhaler which doesnt help. I was taking Nifedipine but asked for an alternative as i had other problems with it, hence the Losartan like you only take in winter.

My dentist said the gum problems could be auto immune related and the nifedepine could be making it worse but the gum problems are under control with regular hygienist visits and the losartan wasn't really helping with the raynauds!

other than the hygienist visits for deep cleaning, what do you feel got the gum diesease under control?

Strict use of TePes (little brushes) every day. I'm meticulous with correct way of brushing and I see hygienist every 3 months (apart from during covid and amazingly they didn't get much worse). I have had an op over 10 years ago where they cut and clean under the gum line!

I've been on it for 7 years, I found on a higher dose I was getting light headed as I do not suffer from high BP so I was ending up on a BP too low. I am now on the lowest dose, 12.5 mg. Don't know if the losartan helps, as I am also on sildenafil, but rheumy is keen for me to stay on it.

Hi, im on Losartan for BP and have severe Raynauds too, it doesnt help my symptoms at all sadly. My Rheumy had me double up the dose but i couldnt tolerate it, so dropped back down to the low dose for BP, so cant say Losartan has helped at all. Jan

I feel my low dose amlodopine got mine under control

I was put on Amlodipine 5mg (higher dose makes my feet swell too much) and Losartan 50mg years ago for heart problems (congenital). My ulcers and sores started to finally clear up, I still have Raynauds which can be painful but I believe Losartan and Amlodipine are keeping the ulcers at bay, thankfully. Unfortunately they don’t work for everyone, hope it does for you. Good luck.

Thank you here's hoping. Fingers turned very white today even though I had gloves on

I’m on 100mg daily for hypertension - been taking it for years. I tried Nifedipine and Sildenafil but both caused too many side effects. I think Losartan at such a high dose may prevent my late onset Raynaud’s from processing to ulcers but it’s impossible to tell because my rheumatologist added 3 monthly Iloprost infusions a few years ago. Since then I don’t get many chilblains or such bad pain in my finger tips. I suspect the combination of Losartan and Iloprost are quite preventative although I still have daily Raynaud’s attacks.

I get Raynauds in my hands . I've tried Losartan but it made no difference and am wondering if nifedipine would help.

I read Sandycharlie's post and it seems a lot of people take it with success. What dose do you need...
