Hi Churchlover,I have diffuse scleroderma and also had an heart attack 10 years ago. The Rheumatologist said it was to do with the scleroderma and fibrosis but the cardiologist wouldn't connect the 2. I didn't need a stent or anything but did have pericarditis for a while.
They put me on al sorts of medication aspirin, statins, bisoprol, clopi-something (stopped that after 2 weeks) GTN spray and also started me on mycophenolate.
I got through it pretty quickly and did fine until recently when they found lung cancer on top of my ILD. I think with this disease you have to take ever challenge has it comes.
Take care hope all goes well for you.
Thank you so much for that, I too found that the rheumatologist was reluctant to associate the heart attack with the scleroderma, and the cardiologist didnt seem interested in the scleroderma,,,,, I have read that people with raynards should not be perscribed bisoprolol as it makes the condition worse,,,,,,,It does feel like one step forward and two back at times, hope your new diagnosis doesnt turn too traumatic
Tske care
Thank you
I don't think they know everything about this disease not by a long chalk. Hopefully in future they will incorporate more regular scans. I am due to have an operation to get the cancer cut away. Hopefully this will work and the scleroderma doesn't react and I come away not too breathless. 🤞
All the best and hopefully your scleroderma calms and you can enjoy a good quality of life.
Take care Xx
I've been put on a beta blocker for arrhythmia though I said it was usually not recommended in scleroderma. I've got used to it but it does make me colder.
