Really painful trapped wind/colic?

Hi all,I have frequently been getting what l assume to be trapped wind: it hurts in both sides of my ribcage, in my back (ribcage) and top of stomach/diaphram. The pain feels rather like being walloped in the solar plexus eg being winded, but over a much larger area. As it makes me want to curl up in a ball and not breathe, l am thinking it is trapped wind.

I am on daily Lanzsoparole and wondering if it is a side effect of low stomach acid caused by the lanzsoparole or part and parcel of GERD, or something else entirely.

l used to get it once in a blue moon, now it is several times a week, and mostly at night.

Does anyone else here get it (and is it wind?), and most importantly, how can l get rid of it quickly?

Hi,

I have been experiencing pain, discomfort and feeling of something being stuck under my right rib cage, pain also in my flank and shoulder blade.mine as been more of than on for nearly 10 weeks.I find wheat heat packs applied to the area, help ease the discomfort.I get a tingling, popping, gurgling some tummy ,some in back.mine can wake me and it is worse lying on my left side.

I am on Rebeprazole,Gaviscon advance

Unfortunately I have no answers yet,I have had, ultrasound no abnormal findings.

Gastroscope they have taken biopsies ,awaiting results and CT abdomen and pelvis with contrast, awaiting results and a chest X-ray again awaiting results.

I would get it checked with your GP as there are quite a few organs under the rib cage.sorry not much help, heat packs do seem to help and I have also used Buscopan and on occasion apple cider vinegar taken in warm water.

Hope you get some relief

Goog luck

Many thanks for your detailed reply! I will give the cider vinegar a go next time seeing as it is in my cupboard and also the hot water bottle.

I get it and it's bacterial overgrowth in my bowel. The nutrition team prescribe me rifaxamin, which helps a little.

hey just seen your post that sounds very much like my symptoms and a recent admission to hospital highlighted sludge in my Gaul bladder and infection maybe worth asking for an ultrasound and MRI if needed xxx

Hi Sammyjam, I missed this post and your reply, just wondering if you got any answers from your doctor? I’ve just started with this a couple of days ago, I’m still in the diagnosis process but right now having a real flare of debilitating symptoms but this is new to me. Last night I couldn’t get to sleep due to the pain and discomfort, like Buttsey, worse on my left side. I was hoping this morning it would be better, but not. I’m finding it hard to sit unless I’m really upright, it feels as if something is being ‘crushed, for want of a better description, under my rib cage. I have silent reflux and now having tummy probs (on OMEPRAZOLE for two years) top of my tummy feels very sore as well. I’ve had this soreness for several months but not the painful ribs before. Any help appreciated and hope you and Blue-feather who initiated this post are ok, so sorry to hear about the loss of her dog, it is devastating.

Hi there! No, but l do believe that any medic l see at the moment will put it down to stress as my beloved dog passed away recently and l appear to be having a big flare, not only of rheumatic things, but also ezcema. So l am waiting for my body to settle itself down so that whatever is left can be better assessed. A shame the Lanzo didn't work for you. Hope you get something that works for you on Monday. 😉
