mine swell up to both in the night and day time and i have primary raynauds. For me its not a sign of anything else so dont worry it isnt always, but maybe worth mentioning it when you see your rheumatologist.

I understand this to be "normal" with raynauds, sausage fingers is how they are often unattractively described.

With me the stiff, swollen hands and fingers were the first symptom of scleroderma, I would talk to your doctor and get a ANA test and then you will know. Good Luck!

I am not familiar with the ANA test. Could you tell me what it is? My fingers have just recently started to swell. They are very stiff in the morning. At first I cannot bend them, but as the day wears on they loosen up. I am seeing my rheumatologist this week.

ANA test is an autoimmune blood test, where they look for autoantibodies such as those common with connective tissue diseases such as Scleroderma or lupus. Very easily done!

sausage fingers is a good name for them. I have Raynauds Phenomenon ,Crest Syndrome, Telangiectasias. all from my Scleroderma. I have had the blood tests done and I think there are 3 antibodies that they are looking for. but it sounds like you need to be tested. as for the swelling in your fingers, try not to worsen it by eating high sodium foods and drink 3 bottles of water a day. this is what i do.

Hi there I also get this - ' banana bunch' hands ! Can't get my rings off etc :(usually when too hot ) so would make sense whilst in bed -

As suggested ask for appt. with Rheumatologist and they should run an ANA blood test. I have CREST - secondary Raynauds - best get to the route of why it is you have raynauds then you can have the care & support you need . Take Care OK AliW

My fingers also swell and get stiff. Worst at night as they stiffen more whenever i am not using my hands. I have Raynaud's and they also over heat as well. I have scleroderma. It was diagnosed with blood tests. I have scl70 antibodies and positive anti nucleur antibodies. Also looked at nailfold capilaries under miscroscope. You would need to speak to your gp to do the blood tests and then referral to rheum.
