Hi all I wondered if any can help with advice,my employer has said my job role is under review and I must stop using low impact power tools because I suffer with cold hands and feet (all my life) so I might have mild raynauds! But as I have seen no change in my condition I think they are going to far putting my job at risk, obviously this is very worrying news and not sure what my next move is
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Although HAVS is not Raynauds directly, long term use of vibration power tools can cause secondary Raynauds. All hand held power tools in the workplace have to have a HAVS rating and you can calculate the length of time you can use that tool safely to reduce the chance of developing HAVS. Any risk assessment for use of power tools should also cover safe duration of use to reduce the chance of developing HAVS. There's more info here: hse.gov.uk/vibration/hav/in... Your employer should have an assessment carried out by occupational health to assess whether or not you already have developed symptoms of HAVS. If you haven't, and if risk assessments are carried out and followed including calculating the time spent using the tool, the power tools you use have HAVS ratings, and correct PPE is available to use and is used, the there shouldn't be grounds to change your job. But if you have HAVS, or the power tools aren't compliant, and/or there's no risk assessment or PPE....then these issues should be looked in to.
