Hi there, it is impossible to tell from the photo you have attached I am afraid. There are so many reasons for lumps and bumps on the hands. If you have the CREST form of scleroderma then it is perfectly possible that a lump on your hand is calcinosis. The only way to tell is with an X-ray, but as they will do nothing about it then there is no point in exposing yourself to radiation unnecessarily. It will possibly work its way out if it is calcium deposits or it might just sit there indefinitely and cause no real problems other than if there is pressure applied to it. I have masses of the stuff in all fingers, and left elbow and right wrist. When it comes to the surface you will notice increased pain, redness and it will look like a white lump. Don't prod and poke at these things it irritates them.

Don't worry about them. In themselves they are harmless and just a product of the condition. There is no treatment, other than surgical removal of lumps that are causing a significant problem because of their location.

All my best

Lucy
